Study programme aims and objectives
The aim of the study program is to:
- train specialists in Blue Economy who have extensive knowledge,
are qualified to apply the know-how obtained for solving field-specific problems and to participate in working out innovative solutions (including in green transformation and green technologies);
- provide comprehensive and broad general knowledge and field-specific skills for solving a wide range of problems and tasks occurring in social, physical and natural, as well as workplace environments, in industrial and technological developments and activities,
- equip students with knowledge and skills required for continuation of studies at Master’s level and for participation in research and development activities. Show more...
Learning outcomes of the study programme
After completion of the study programme, the student:
- applies
their knowledge in Science and Engineering for creating interdisciplinary links between different technological solutions, including for understanding the essence of new technologies crossing the boundary between Science and Engineering;
- describes the physical and chemical principles and processes of natural environment and of blue economy technologies and applies these principles in selection of suitable technologies; recognizes the connections between society and the environment;
- has obtained the fundamentals of sustainable material and energy technologies, field-specific process and product development and quality management;
- analyses, assesses and prepares sustainable business models, strategies and activity plans based on the principles of circular economy; sets goals and objectives taking into consideration aspects of sustainable development, responsible business and ethics;
- analyses the problems and tasks connected with sustainable development and green transition, is prepared to choose suitable solution strategies, methods and technologies, applies elementary methods for life cycle analysis and environmental impact assessment;
- understands restrictions due to environmental requirements, incl. international strategies, agreements and regulations and knows how to apply the principles of circular economy based on sustainable use of natural resources;
- is capable to gather information independently, to interpret it critically and creatively considering technical and economic feasibility; analyses prospective development trends regarding the specifics of the field;

Graduation requirements
Completion of the curriculum in the required amount, and the successful defence of the graduation paper in conformity with the requirements set by the TalTech Senate.
