course aims in Estonian
- anda ülevaade geodeesia peaülesannetest ning nende lahendamise meetoditest;
- tutvustada peamisi geodeetilisi mõõtevahendeid ja nende kasutamist maastikuobjektide asukohtade määramisel, aga ka objektide kujutamist kaartidel ja plaanidel;
- anda ülevaade tahhümeetrilise mõõdistamise meetoditest ja geodeetilise kõrgusmäärangu eesmärkidest ja põhimõtetest;
- tutvustada nivelleerimise instrumente, mõõtmismeetodeid ja arvutusi;
- anda ülevaade erialaspetsiifilistest geodeetilistest mõõtmistest.

To provide a general introduction to:
- the main geodetic problems and their solutions
- geodetic equipment and their applications in positioning of the objects;
- methods used to represent the surveying results;
- methods of the tachometric surveys;
- the aims and principles of the geodetic heighting;
- leveling instruments, measuring methods and data processing;
- surveying methods applied for solving profession specific tasks.

1. Kirjeldab geodeesia tegevusvaldkondi ja seoseid teiste distsipliinidega.
2. Lahendab geodeetilist otse- ja vastuülesannet.
3. Oskab käsitleda teodoliiti horisontaal- ja vertikaalnurga mõõtmiseks.
4. Teostab teodoliitkäigu andmetöötlust koos mõõtmiste täpsushinnanguga.
5. Teab topograafilise mõõdistamise peamiseid meetodeid ning objektide kujutamist plaanidel.
6. Oskab käsitleda optilist nivelliiri.
7. Teostab nivelleerimise andmetöötlust.
8. Oskab lahendada erialaspetsiifilisi geodeetilisi ülesandeid: (ehituserialadel näit. nivelleerimine, objektide väljamärkimine, kõverate arvutus ja väljamärkimine, trassi mõõdistamine, piki- ja ristprofiilide koostamine jms).
9. Tekkinud on valmidus juhendataval õppepraktikal osalemiseks.

1. Knows the main fields of geodetic activities and their relations with other disciplines.
2. Solves the direct and inverse geodetic calculation problems.
3. Measures the horizontal and vertical angles with theodolite.
4. Performs traverse adjustment with estimating the measurement errors.
5. Knows the basic methods of topographical surveying and draws the survey results into a map.
6. Knowledge of using leveling instruments.
7. Process leveling data.
8. Know the basics of the speciality related surveying tasks (e.g. for engineering specialties - leveling, setting out buildings and curves, route surveys, profiling etc).
9. Participation readiness in the supervised geodetic surveying practice.

Geodeesia põhimõisted. Koordinaatsüsteemid. Joonte orienteerimine. Geodeetilised alusvõrgud. Mõõdistamispõhised. Mõõdistamise meetodid, vahendid, mõõtmistulemuste töötlemine, plaanide koostamine.
Tahhümeetriline mõõdistamine, välitööd, kameraaltööd. Pindalade määramine. Kõrgusmäärangu eesmärgid ja põhimõtted. Geomeetriline nivelleerimine. Eesti kõrguseline põhivõrk. Nivelleerimise täpsusklassid. Nivelliirid ja nivelleerimislatid. Mõõtmistulemuste töötlemine. Erialased geodeetilised tööd (insenerierialadel - trasseerimine, piki- ja ristprofiilide koostamine, märkimistööd).
Laboratoorsed ja kodused tööd:
1) leppemärgid ja mõõtkavad; 2) teodoliidi ehitus ja käsitsemine; 3) teodoliidi kontroll; 4) horisontaalnurga mõõtmine; 5) teodoliitkäigu arvutamine ja tasandamine; 6) tahhümeetrilised mõõtmised ja arvutused; 7) vertikaalnurga mõõtmine; 8) pinnanivelleerimine; 9) nivelliiri kontroll ja justeerimine; 10) trassi piki- ja ristprofiilide koostamine; 11) kaasaegsed elektroonilised instrumendid ja nendega töötamine.

Main geodetic conventions and definitions. Coordinate systems. Control networks and survey grids. Surveying methods and equipment. Processing of surveying results, plotting the results into map. Field and office tasks of tacheometric surveying. Area computations. Aims and principles of the geodetic heighting. Geometrical leveling. Estonian national vertical control. Leveling instruments and staffs. Processing of the leveling data. Speciality specific geodetic works (e.g. for engineering specialities - route surveys, profiling and cross-sections, setting out).
Laboratory and home assignments:
1) map symbols and scales; 2) Theodolite construction and its usage; 3) Theodolite tests; 4) Horizontal angle measurements; 5) Traverse computations and adjustment; 6) Tacheometric surveying, 7) Vertical angle measurement; 8) Area leveling; 9) Tests and adjustment of the leveling instrument; 10) Calculating and compiling route’s longitudinal and cross profiles; 11) Acquaintance with modern electronic measuring equipment.
