Arendada välja mehaanotehnika valdkonnale orienteeritud:
- algteadmised kvaliteedijuhtimise süsteemidest, sertifitseerimisest ja mõõdundusest ettevõtetes ning
- oskus rakendada neid teadmisi praktiliste kvaliteeditagamise ülesannete lahendamisel.

To develop mechanical engineering oriented:
- basic knowledge regarding quality management systems, certification and metrology in companies and
- skills to implement the knowledge above in solving of practical quality assurance problems.

Õppeaine positiivse tulemusega sooritanud üliõpilane:
- analüüsib ettevõtte kvaliteedijuhtimissüsteemi olemust ja aspekte lähtudes ISO 9000 standardisarjast,
- rakendab protsessijuhtimise riskipõhiseid ja statistilisi meetodeid koos Six Sigma ja Lean põhivõtetega,
- selgitab Euroopa Liidu tootenõuete süsteemi (direktiivid ja määrused) ning toodete CE-märgistuse ja vastavushindamise aluspõhimõtteid,
- juhindub masina ja selle juhtimissüsteemi kujundusel ning dokumentatsiooni koostamisel Euroopa Liidu masinadirektiiviga sätestatud olulistest nõuetest,
- analüüsib toote geomeetriakvaliteedi ahelat (spetsifikatsioonist mõõtetulemuse ja selle hinnanguni) kui tervikut juhindudes ISO geomeetriaspetsifikatsiooni (ISO GPS) põhimõtetest ja maatriksmudelist,
- evalveerib toote kvaliteedikontrolli protseduure mõõtemääramatuse sihtväärtusest lähtuvalt.

When having successfully passed the course, the student:
- analyses the essence and aspects of a company quality management system according to ISO 900 standard series,
- implements risk-based and statistical process control methods together with Six Sigma and Lean basic tools,
- explains the system of European Union product requirements (directives and regulations), the basic principles of products’ CE-marking and conformity assessment,
- follows the essential requirements to machinery structure, control system and documentation, set forth by European Union machinery directive,
- analyses the product geometric quality chain (from specification to measurement result and verification) as a whole following the ISO product geometric specification (ISO GPS) basic principles and the matrix
model,
- evaluates the product quality testing procedures based on the measurement uncertainty target value.
