- haridustaseme tõstmine mehaanika, termodünaamika, elektromagnetismi ja optika valdkonnas, mis on vajalik erialakursuse omandamiseks tehnilistel, tehnoloogilistel ja reaalerialadel;
- süsteemse, teaduslikul alusel põhineva füüsikalise maailmapildi kujundamine.

- raising educational level in the fields of mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, optics, which is necessary to acquire speciality courses in the areas of technics, technology and natural sciences;
- development of the physical world view based on systematical and scientific foundation.

- teab ja saab aru mehaanika, termodünaamika, elektromagnetismi, optika seadustest, mudelitest ja nende rakendatavuse piiridest;
- oskab kasutada füüsikalisi suurusi, ühikuid, vektoralgebrat, diferentsiaal- ja integraalarvutust mehaanika, termodünaamika, elektromagnetismi, optika probleemide analüüsil ning lahendamisel;
- tunneb füüsikakatsete läbiviimise põhialuseid ja oskab hinnata katsetulemusi, teab tulemuste mõõtemääramatust;
- oskab kasutada mehaanikat, termodünaamikat, elektromagnetismi, optikat inseneriteadustega seotud probleemide analüüsil ja iseseisva töö korral kirjandusega;
- oskab seostada mehaanikat, termodünaamikat, elektromagnetismi, optikat tehnika toimimise ja meid ümbritseva elukeskkonna nähtuste kirjeldamisel ja analüüsil.

- knows and understands the laws of mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, optics, also the models and their applicability limits;
- is able to apply physical quantities, their dimensions, vector algebra and differential and integral calculus when analyzing and solving problems of mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, optics;
- knows the principles of physical experiment and is able to estimate experimental results, understands uncertainty of measurement;
- is able to use mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, optics to analyze problems in engineering sciences and to use literature when working independently;
- is able to relate mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, optics with functioning of technical devices and to describe and analyze phenomena of surrounding environment.

Klassikalise mehaanika füüsikalised alused, mehaanilised võnkumised ja lained, molekulaarfüüsika ja termodünaamika, elektriväli, elektrivool, elektrijuhtivuse teooria alused, optika alused. Füüsikalised mõõtmised ja mõõtemääramatuse hindamine. Mehaanika, molekulaarfüüsika, elektri, magnetismi ja optika laboritööd.

Physical foundation of classical mechanics, mechanical oscillations and waves, molecular physics and thermodynamics, electrical field, electrical current, foundations of the conductivity theory, foundations of optics. Physical measurement and estimation of uncertainty of measurement. Laboratory works in mechanics, molecular physics, electricity, magnetism and optics.
