Aine läbinud üliõpilane:
- analüüsib meretranspordi majandusturge ja meretransporditurgude ning maailmamajanduse vahelisi seoseid;
- hindab, kuidas laevandus- ja sadamettevõtted oma strateegiaid arendavad;
- eristab IT-põhiseid meretranspordi- ja sadamatehnoloogiaid ning nende toimimist ja tulevast arengut;
- hindab laevanduses kehtivate keskkonnaalaste eeskirjade karmistumist ja nende mõju meretranspordi majandusele.

After completing this course, the student:
- analyses the maritime economic markets and the links between maritime markets and global economics;
- analyses how shipping and port companies develop their strategies;
- differentiates the IT-based maritime and port technologies and operations and their future development;
- understands the environmental tightening environmental regulations in shipping and their impact on the maritime economics.

Kursus annab doktorantidele põhjaliku ülevaate tänapäeva laevandusettevõtete ja sadamate muutlikust ärikeskkonnast. Loengutes käsitletakse merendusmajanduse, IT-lahenduste ja laevanduse keskkonnaalaste eeskirjade teooriaid ja juhtimisaspekte. Kõiki neid aspekte käsitletakse nii nende praeguses olukorras kui ka nende võimaluste ja ohtude seisukohast äritegevusele.
Kursus annab doktorantidele arusaama sellest, kuidas nende enda uurimisteema sobib reaalsesse merendusmaailma ning oskuse esitada oma töö eelised tööstusele.
brief description of the course in English
The course will give Ph.D students comprehensive understanding of the turbulent business environment in present-day shipping companies and ports. The lectures will cover theories and managerial aspects of maritime economics and IT-solutions and environmental regulations in shipping. All of these aspect are covered in their present-day situation as well as their opportunities or threats to the business.
This course will give Ph.D students understanding how their own research topic fits into the real maritime world and capabilities to present the benefits of their work to the industry.
