Analüütilise mõtlemise arendamine. Loogika süntaksi, semantika ja tuletuse mõistmine. Mõistete defineerimine ja vigaste definitsioonide parandamine. Lause tõeväärtuste määramine ja liitlausete teisendamine. Vastavate matemaatiliste vahendite kasutamine tõestamises.
Oskused valmis andmebaaside kasutamiseks, teadmised andmebaasi loomiseks programmiga MS Access, tutvustada võimalusi loodud andmebaasi täiustamiseks.

Development of analytical thinking. Logic syntax, semantics and derivation understanding. Definitions of concepts and faulty definitions correction. Determination of a statement truth values and compound statements transformation. Applying of proper mathematic tools in proof.
Give an overview of relational databases, projecting and realisation of those databases on the basis of MS Access. Develop skills of logical and analytical thinking. Provide the means to acquire knowledge on databases.

Aine läbinud üliõpilane:
- on saanud ülevaate kriitilise mõtlemise eelduseks olevatest oskustest ning arutlemisel toimuvatest mõtteprotsessidest;
- teab loogilise mõtlemise põhireegleid;
- määrab mõiste sisu ja mahu ning liigitab mõisteid, defineerib mõisteid, leiab etteantud definitsioonides ebatäpsusi ja vigu;
- teeb tehteid lausetega, liitlausete teisendamist ja määrab lause tõeväärtust, oskab lahendada lausearvutuse ülesandeid;
- kasutab matemaatilist teksti kirjutades predikaate, kvantoreid;
- eraldab teoreemist eelduse ja väite ning moodustab antud teoreemi järgi pöördteoreemi, vastandteoreemi ja pöördvastandteoreemi ning tõestab teoreemi.
- teab relatsioonilise andmebaasi termineid;
- oskab kujundada lihtsamat relatsioonilist andmebaasi;
- oskab kasutada ja koostada vajalikke objekte programmis MS Access;
- demonstreerib iseseisva tööna valminud andmebaasi, mille on loonud kasutades programmi MS Access;
- esitab andmebaasi koostamise tööprotsessi kirjelduse.

Having finished the study of the subject a student:
- gets an overview of exisiting skills for assumption of critical thinking and processes of thinking in discussion;
- knows the main rules of logic thinking;
- determines content and volume of a concept and classifies concepts, defines the concepts, finds inaccuracies and mistakes in the given definitions;
- makes operations with statements, transformation with compound statements and determines the truth value of a statement, can solve the tasks of statement analysis;
- uses predicates and quantors when writing mathematical texts;
- separates assumption and a statement from a theorem and forms an inverse theorem according to the given theorem, opposite theorem and back-opposite theorem and can proove it;
- will know basic terms in relational databases;
- student creates a simple MS Access database
- provides the documentation of the work process.

Loogika mõtlemise põhireeglid. Mõiste ja definitsioon. Formaalne loogika: lause, loogilised tehted, lausearvutus (liitlausete tõeväärtused, samaväärsed liitlaused, liitlausete teisendamine, duaalsuse seadus, liitlausete ja nende tõehulkade vaheline seos) ja predikaatarvutus (ühekohaline ja kahekohaline predikaat, põhisamasused predikaatidega, kvantorid).
Andmebaasiobjektide ja andmete modelleerimise põhitõed. MS Access töövälja kujundamine. Andmebaasi põhialused. Andmebaasi loomine. Tabelite loomine. Päringute loomine ja kasutamine. Tegevuspäringud. Ekraanivormide loomine ja andmete lisamine tabelitesse. Aruannete loomine ja disainimine. Makrode koostamine. Andmevahetus (andmete importimine ja eksportimine).
brief description of the course in English
The main rules of logic thinking. Concept and definition. Formal logic: statement, logic operations, statement analysis (compound statements truth values, compound statements of equal value , compound statements trasformation, duality law, compound statements and their complete sets coupling) and predicate calculus( one-place and binary predicate, main identities with predicates, quantors).
Basic terms in database. Relational database. MS Access: tables, queries. Normalisation. Creating tables. Queries on the basis of multiple tables. Data manipulation. MS Access: Forms, reports, macros and VBA.
