Aine eesmärk on:
- anda ülevaade tootmise juhtimise süsteemidest, ettevõtte strateegilisest planeerimisest, näidata peamised tootmistegevuse näitajad ja neid analüüsida;
- käsitleda ja anda ülevaade järgmistest teemadest: tootmise ja materjali planeerimine, lao töö organiseerimine, tehniliste muudatuste juhtimine, prognoosimine, simulatsioon, otsustusteooria, kulusäästlik tootmine.

The aim of this course is to:
- give general overview of production management systems and subsystems, company's strategic planning, to show main production performance indicators and analyze them;
- discussion and overview of following topics: production and material planning, warehouse work organizing, engineering change management, forecasting, simulation, decision theory, lean manufacturing.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- selgitab tootmise ja teeninduse juhtimise protsesside olemust, nende strateegilist tähtsust;
- eristab peamisi tootmise ja teeninduse juhtimise protsesside kavandamise etappe;
- kirjeldab tootmise ja teeninduse juhtimise, planeerimise ning kontrollimise olemust ja printsiipe;
- kasutab tootmise ja teeninduse juhtimise pideva parendamise meetodeid;
- valib välja praktilisi tööriistu ja meetodeid ning rakendab neid protsesside juhtimisel.

- explains the nature of the production and service management processes as well as their strategic importance;
- differentiates between the main stages of the main production and service management processes in the planning stages;
- describes basic principles of planning and control of operations; the planning of production and service management;
- utilises the methods for continuous process improvement;
- selects appropriate practical tools and methods and applies them in the processes management.

Toote strateegia: toote arendus, toote kvaliteet. protsessistrateegia: operatsioonistrateegia ja üldise strateegia vahelised seosed; operatsioonisüsteem; tootmismeetodid; protsessi tüübid; spetsialiseerumine; protsessi tsükkel; võimsus; tasuvusanalüüs; projekti hindamine; täppisajastatud tootmine ja sisseostmine. Koondplaneerimine. Üksuse paiknemine. Üksuste plaan. Tootmisplaan. Materjalivajaduse planeerimine. Projektide ajaline planeerimine ja kontrollimine. Kvaliteedi juhtimine. Hooldus.

Course content and objectives. Product, service and process planning. Product strategy: product development, product quality. Process strategy; relations between operations strategy and overall strategy; operations system; production methods; types of process; spetcialization; process cycle; capacity; break-even analysis; project valuation; just-in time production and purchasing. Aggregate planning. Facility location. Layout of facilities. The production plan. Material requirements planning. Scheduling and controlling projects. Quality management Maintenance.
