VERSION SPECIFIC DATA
course aims in Estonian
Õppeaine eesmärk on tutvustada üliõpilastele biokütuste kasvavat valdkonda, selle tähtsust madala süsinikusisaldusega energiasüsteemide loomisel; biokeemilisi, geneetilisi ja molekulaarseid lähenemisviise, mida arendatakse järgmise põlvkonna biokütuste edendamiseks, ning biokütuste tootmise majanduslikku ja globaalset mõju; analüüsida biokütuste arendamise tähtsust fossiilkütuste vähenevate tarnete asendamisel ja süsinikdioksiidi keskkonda sattumise tagajärgede vähendamisel.
course aims in English
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the growing field of biofuels, its importance in creating low-carbon energy systems; biochemical, genetic, and molecular approaches developed for advancing next-generation biofuels, as well as the economic and global impact of biofuel production; analyze the significance of biofuel development in replacing diminishing supplies of fossil fuels and reducing the consequences of carbon dioxide entering the environment.
learning outcomes in the course in Est.
Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- tunneb olemasolevate energiaressursside tüüpe ja erinevusi, mõistab nende hankimist ja kasutamist ning nende mõju ühiskonnale ja keskkonnale;
- nimetab võimalikud biomassi lähteained, sh energiakultuurid;
- kirjeldab ja võrdleb olemasolevaid ja perspektiivseid biomassist energia tootmise tehnoloogiaid;
- analüüsib energiavajaduste ja -probleemide võimalikke lahendusi õpitud bioenergia tehnoloogiate rakendamise kaudu.
learning outcomes in the course in Eng.
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- understand the types and differences of existing energy resources, comprehend their acquisition and utilization, and their impact on society and the environment;
- identify possible feedstocks for biomass, including energy crops;
- describe and compare existing and prospective technologies for energy production from biomass;
- analyze possible solutions to energy needs and issues through the implementation of learned bioenergy technologies.
brief description of the course in Estonian
