Kursuse eesmärgiks on omandada teadmised nüüdisaegse toote- ja tehnoloogiaarenduse põhimõtetest ja metoodikatest, saada ettevalmistus osalemiseks tehnoloogiaarendusmeeskonnas. Turundust, tooteloomet, tootmise ettevalmistamist ja tootmist ning finantseerimist käsitletakse sünergialiselt lõppeesmärgi, eduka äri, saavutamiseks. Üliõpilane omandab kursusel teadmisi tehnoloogiaarenduse süsteemi otstarbekaks korraldamiseks nüüdisettevõttes.

The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge of the principles and methodologies of contemporary product and technology development, to get a preparation for participating in a technology development team. Marketing, product development, preparatory stages of production, manufacturing and financing will be united synergetically for achieving the final result, a successful business. During the course the student will acquire knowledge of managing the system of technology development expediently in a contemporary enterprise.

Kursuse edukalt läbinud üliõpilane (1) oskab koostada tootmise tehnilis-majanduslikku analüüsi; (2) teab keskkonnahoidliku tehnoloogiaarenduse põhimõtteid; (3) oskab defineerida loodava tehnilise lahenduse funktsioonid; (4) oskab hinnata toote tehnoloogilisust; (5) oska defineerida toote kvaliteeti ja töökindlust; (6) on teadlik valmistamise tehnoloogia mõjust toote kvaliteedile; (7) oskab hinnata tehnoloogiaarendusprojekti teostatavust.

After passing the course, the student will (1) be able to compile the production technical-economic analysis; (2) be aware of the principles of environmentally sound technology development; (3) be able to define the functions of a technical design under creation; (4) be able to assess the technological effectiveness of a product; (5) be able to define the quality and reliability of a product; (6) be aware of the effect of manufacturing technology on the quality of a product; (7) be able to assess the feasibility of a technology development project.

Õppeaine õpetamisel käsitletakse järgmisi teemasid: (1) tehnoloogiaarenduses kasutatavad meetodid ja toodete kujundamise alused; (2) toote konstruktsiooni tehnoloogilisus; (3) tootmise tehnilis-majanduslik hinnang; (4) tehnoloogia kontseptsiooni väljatöötamine ja disainimine; (5) tehnoloogiaarenduse protsess ja majandusanalüüs; (6) eskiisjooniste koostamine ja tehnoloogilised arvutused; (7) tehnoloogiaarenduse projektitaotluse koostamine.

During the course the following topics will be covered (1) methods used in technology development and fundamentals of product design; (2) technological effectiveness of construction; (3) production of technical-economic assesment; (4) development and design of a technology concept; (5) the process and economic analysis of technology development; (6) drawing drafts and calculating technology; (7) technology development project application.
