Õppeaine eesmärk on anda ülevaade ja teadmisi soojustehnika kasutamisest, iseärasustest ja soojustehnika seadmete rakendamisega seotud probleemidest; põhiteadmisi termodünaamika seadustest ja soojus- ning massilevi probleemidest, termodünaamiliste ringprotsesside iseloomustusest ja koosseisust.

The subject gives review and knowledge about Heat Engineering use, its features and problem related to application of heat engineering equipment; basic knowledge about laws of thermodynamics and problems of heat- and mass-transfer, technical characteristics and patterns of cycling processes.

Üliõpilane teab tehnilise termodünaamika seadusi, suurusi ja parameetreid ning mõõtühikuid ja oskab tegeleda nende muundamisega; tunneb ja eristab ideaalseid termodünaamilisi protsesse ja teab parameetrite seoseid, st valemeid, ja oskab neid kasutada; oskab eristada ringprotsesse, teab nende iseloomustusi, koosseisu ja kasutusala; omab põhiteadmisi soojus- ja massilevist katelseadmetes.

A student knows laws of thermodynamic, quantities and parameters as well as units of measurment and can convert them; knows and distinguishes ideal thermodynamics processes and knows relationships of the parameters, i.e.formulae, and can apply them; can distinguish cycling processes, knows their characteristics, patterns and field of application; acquires basic knowledge of heat and mass transfer in boiler equipment.

Termodünaamiline süsteem, ideaalgaas: olekuvõrrand, põhiprotsessid, erisoojused; termodünaamika esimene seadus, keha siseenergia, entalpia, entroopia; ringprotsessid, termodünaamika teine seadus, selle olemus ja formuleeringud, kolbmootorite ringprotsessid. Veeauru olekutabelid ja -diagrammid, protsessid veeauruga, aurujõuseadme ringprotsessid; gaasi ja auru voolamine, düüs, difuusor, drosseldamine. Soojuslevi põhilised viisid: juhtivus, konvektsioon, soojuskiirgus; keemine, kondenseerumine. Soojusvahetite tüübid, arvutamine. Kütused ja kütuste põletamine. Katelseadmed. Praktilised tööd: gaasi adiabaadi astendaja määramine Flammersfeldi ostsillaatori abil, soojusläbikande protsessi uurimine.

Thermodynamic system (the) ideal gas, characteristic equation of state. Thermodynamic processes, specific heat capacity. The first law of thermodynamics, internal energy, enthalpy, entropy, cycling processes. The second law of thermodynamics. Reciprocating engine processes. State diagrams and tables of water vapour, water vapour processes, steam-plant cyclic processes; the flow of gas and steam, nozzle, diffuser, throttling. Basic components of heat transfer: heat transfer by conduction, convection and radiation; boiling, condensing. Types of heat-exchangers, calculation. Fuels and fuel burning. Boilers. Practical works: definition of an indicator of an adiabatic curve with the help of Flammerfeld’s oscillator, research of process of conductive heat transfer.
