Anda teadmisi juhuslikkust kirjeldavate seaduspärasuste kohta ning oskusi nende seaduspärasuste kindlakstegemiseks. Õpetada lahendama tõenäosusteooriaga seotud põhilisi ülesandeid. Anda teadmisi ja oskusi andmete töötlemiseks ja saadud tulemuste analüüsimiseks matemaatilise statistika meetoditega.

To provide knowledge about the principles of randomness as well as the skills to identify them. To teach solving basic tasks connected with the probability theory. To provide knowledge and skills of handling data and analysing the results by using the methods of mathematical statistics.

Üliõpilane teab tõenäosuse definitsioone, aksioome ja omadusi ja oskab neid ülesannete lahedamiseks rakendada, omab teadmisi juhuslikkust kirjeldavate seaduspärasuste kohta ning oskusi nende seaduspärasuste kindlakstegemiseks, suudab oma teoreetilisi teadmisi rakendada mainitud teooriaga seotud ülesannete lahendamiseks, teab matemaatilise statistika põhimõisteid, kirjeldava statitistika põhimeetodeid ja andmeanalüüsi lihtsamaid meetodeid, oskab statistilisi andmeid töödelda, analüüsida ja saadud tulemustest järeldusi teha matemaatilise statistika meetodite abil.

A student knows the definitions, axioms and features of probability and can apply them in problem solving, has the knowledge of the principles of randomness as well as the skills to identify them, is able to apply one’s theoretical knowledge in solving tasks connected with the theory mentioned above, knows the basic concepts of mathematical statistics, basic methods of descriptive statistics and the simplest methods of data analysis, can process and analyse statistical data and make conclusions based on the given results by using the methods of mathematical statistics.

Juhuslikud sündmused ja tehted sündmustega. Sündmuse sagedus ja tõenäosus. Tõenäosuste liitmis- ja korrutamislaused. Täistõenäosus ja Bayesi valem. Bernoulli skeem. Juhuslik suurus, selle jaotus, jaotusfunktsioon. Juhusliku suuruse arvkarakteristikud. Klassikalised jaotused. Vaatlusandmed. Empiiriline jaotus. Punkt- ja vahemikhinnangud. Hüpoteeside kontrollimine. Korrelatsioon- ja regressioonanalüüs.

Random events. Operations with the events. Events’ frequency and probability. Addition and multiplication operation of probability. Formula of total probability. Bayes' formula. Bernoull's scheme. Variable distribution. Variable distribution frequency. Numeric characteristics of variates. Classical distribution Empirical distribution. Credit- and interval evaluations. Hypothesis control. Correlative- and regression analysis.

Semestri jooksul tuleb sooritada kontrolltööd ja kodutööd. Kodutööde ja kontrolltööde arv, eksamieeldus ja eksami läbiviimise vorm määratakse õppejõu poolt semestri alguses. Hindamine toimub vastavalt TTÜ õppetegevuse eeskirjale.

Throughout the semester students have to solve quizes and hometasks. The number of hometasks and quizes as well as examination prerequisites and form is defined by the course instructor at the beginning of the semester. Exam assessment is carried out according to Instructions of TUT Study activities.
