Õppeainesse on integreeritud kaks erinevat, kuid korrelleeruvat osa. Metroloogias omandab üliõpilane teadmisi, mis on seotud mõõteeksperimendi plaanimise ja tööstusprotsesside mõõtetehnikaga. Kvaliteedi osa eesmärgiks on anda teadmisi kvaliteedi teoreetiliste aluste kohta ning kohaldada meetodeid, mis võimaldavad tulevikus inseneriks saada; formuleerida ja lahendada praktilisi probleeme, mis on seotud juhtimise ja kvaliteedi kontrollimisega.

The course integrates two different but correlated modules. In the Metrology module the student acquires knowledge related to the working principles of the instruments and measurement procedures and acquires competences in the application of industrial measurement techniques. The objective of the Quality module is to provide the theoretical basis and the applied methods to allow the future engineer understand, formulate and solve practical problems related to the management and quality control.

Õppeaine läbimise tulemusena üliõpilane:
(1) saab aru kavandamise rollist kvaliteedi tagamisel;
(2) oskab kasutada lihtsamaid statistilisi meetodeid kvaliteedi tagamisel tootmises;
(3) tunneb ISO9001/2000 standardite ülesehitust ning saab aru nendes esitatud nõuetest;
(4) on tutvunud ja oskab lihtsamate ülesannete lahendamisel kasutada QFD, FMECA, FTA, faktorkatsed jt meetodeid;
(5) oskab kasutada lihtsamaid statistilisi meetodeid kvaliteedi tagamisel tootmises. Teab erinevaid kvaliteeditagamise stiile ja programme (Deming, Kaizen, TQM jt).

After passing the course successfully, the student will:
(1) Understands the role of planning to assure quality;
(2) can apply simple statistical methods to assure quality in production;
(3) knows ISO9001/2000 standard structure and understands the specified requirements;
(4) gets to know and can apply QFD, FMECA, FTA, factor tests and another methods when solving simple tasks;
(5) can use simple statistical methods to assure quality in production. Knows different systems and programs (Deming, Kaizen, TQM, etc) for quality assurance.

Õppeaine õpetamisel käsitletakse järgmisi teemasid:
1.Metroloogia. 1.1. Metroloogia valdkonna eesmärgid. 1.2. Metroloogia valdkonna kvaliteet ja metroloogia laboratooriumite ülevaade. 1.3. Pinna seisundi ja kuju kontroll. 1.4.Liikumiste kontroll. 1.5. Kehade staatilise deformatsiooni kontroll. 1.6.Pinna kvaliteedi kontroll. 1.7.Masinaelementide kvaliteedi metroloogiline kontroll.
2. Raaltoestatud kvaliteedisüsteemid. Kvaliteedijuhtimine. 2.1. Kvaliteedi mõiste ja roll konkurentsifaktorina. 2.2. Kvaliteedijuhtimise aspekte ja termineid (akrediteerimine, sertifitseerimine, kvaliteedi tagamise stiilid, kvaliteediauhinnad jt. 2.2.1. Kavandamise kvaliteediohje. 2.2.2. Kvaliteedisüsteemide standardisari ISO9001/2000. 2.2.3 Kvaliteediaudit, süsteemi sertifitseerimine. 2.3.Kvaliteet ja selle pidev täiustamine. 2.3.1.KAISEN kvaliteediprogramm. 2.3.2. Kvaliteedisilmus. 2.3.3.TQM programm ja 6 sigma. 2.4.Kvaliteedi statistiline kontroll. 2.4.1.Põhimõtted ja eesmärgid. 2.4.2.Muutujate omaduste kontroll; Eksperimendi plaanimine; Teeninduse kvaliteediohje. 2.4.3.Taguchi meetod.

During the course, the following topics will be covered:
1.Metrology. 1.1.Purpose of the metrology in the industry. 1.2.The quality in metrology and metrology laboratories overview. 1.3.Verification of shapes and its relative position. 1.4.Verification of movements. 1.5.Verification of the static deformation of bodies. 1.6.Surface quality control. 1.7.Metrological quality control of machines.
2.Computer –aided quality systems.Quality management. 2.1.Quality concept and role as a competitive factor. 2.2.Quality management aspects and terminology (accreditation,certification, quality guarantee systems,quality awards,etc). 2.2.1.Planning quality control. 2.2.2.Quality manual according to ISO9001/2000. 2.2.3.Quality audits, system sertification. 2.3.Quality and continuous improvement. 2.3.1.KAISEN philosophy. 2.3.2.Quality loop. 2.3.3.TQM and 6 sigma. 2.4.Quality statistical control. 2.4.1.Principles and objectives. 2.4.2.Control by variables; Sample planning; Process quality control. 2.4.3.Taguchi methods.
