Õppeaine läbimise tulemusena peab üliõpilane:
- teadma ja analüüsima erinevaid pulbermaterjalide valmistusprotsesse ja oskama valida nende põhiparameetreid ja seadmeid
- tundma põhilisi pulbermaterjale ja oskama neid valida
- oskama kavandada konkreetset pulberdetaili ja valmistusprotsessi

Pulbrite valmistamine ja tehnoloogiaomadused. Pulbrite ettevalmistamine vormimiseks. Vormimismeetodid: külmpressimine, vibro-, hüdrostaat-, isostaat-, kuum- ja impulsspressimine, valtsimine, ekstrudeerimine, pulbersurve- ja lobrivalu. Tahkfaas- ja vedelfaaspaagutamine, infiltreerimine. Pulbertoorikute töötlemine: termiline, termokeemiline ja mehaaniline töötlemine, immutamine, kalibreerimine. Pulbermaterjalid: konstruktsioon-, antifrikatsioon-, friktsioon-, poorsed, elektrotehnilised, tööriista- ja keraamilised materjalid.

Production of metals powders. Characterisation and testing of metals powders. Consolidation of metal powders. Fundamentals of consolidation. Special consolidation processes (injection molding, cold and hot isostatic pressing, rolling, Ceracon process). Sintering of metals powders. Fundamentals of sintering. Dimensional change of sintered compacts. Infiltration. Secondary operations performed on powder metallurgy parts and products. Mechanical properties of powder materials (P/M). Powder materials and applications. P/M porous parts, bearings, friction materials. P/M parts for electrical and magnetic applications. P/M high- temperature materials, tool steels. Hardmetals. Cermets.
