Õppeaine eesmärk on:
- anda teadmisi ja oskusi kvantitatiivsete ja kvalitatiivsete uuringute kasutamise võimalustest ärinduse praktikas;
- toetada andmete kogumiseks, töötlemiseks ning sobiva analüüsi läbiviimiseks vajaminevate teoreetiliste teadmiste ja praktiliste oskuste omandamist;
- tutvustada ja õpetada MS Exceli andmeanalüüsi võimalusi ja vahendeid ja IBM SPSS Statistics kasutusvõimalusi andmete töötlemisel ning statistilisel analüüsil.

The aim of this course is to:
- provide knowledge and skills regarding the application of quantitative and qualitative research methods in business practice;
- support the acquisition of the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for data collection, processing, and the implementation of appropriate analyses;
- introduce and teach the data analysis tools of MS Excel, as well as the use of IBM SPSS Statistics for data processing and statistical analysis.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- analüüsib teadusliku uurimistöö loogikat ja akadeemilise eetika põhimõtteid;
- selgitab enamkasutatavate kvantitatiivsete ja kvalitatiivsete uurimismeetodite kasutusvõimalusi ning andmete kogumise ja analüüsimise viise;
- kasutab juhendmaterjali toel sobivat tarkvara andmete töötlemiseks ja analüüsimiseks;
- loob teadustöö raporti;
- hindab enda ja teiste analüüsimeetodite valiku, rakendamise ja tulemuste tõlgendamise oskust, annab põhjendatud tagasisidet ning määratleb sellest lähtuvad arenguvajadused.

After completing this course, the student:
- analyzes the logic of scientific research and the principles of academic ethics;
- explains the applications of quantitative and qualitative methods, including approaches to data collection and analysis;
- uses appropriate software for data processing and analysis with the support of instructional material;
- produces a research report;
- evaluates their own and others’ competence in selecting and applying analytical methods and interpreting results, provides feedback, and identifies related development needs.

Ülevaade kvantitatiivsetest ja kvalitatiivsetest uurimismeetoditest. Kvantitatiivne ja kvalitatiivne andmekogumine. Esmaste andmete kogumine küsitlusega, struktuur ja eetilised nõuded. Analüüsitulemuste esitamine joonisel ja tabelis. Hüpoteeside sõnastamine ja kontrollimine. Ülevaade tuntumatest andmeanalüüsi kasutatavatest meetoditest: kahefaktorilise dispersioonanalüüsi näide, erinevad seosekordajad, regressioonimudelid, faktoranalüüs, klasteranalüüs. Kvalitatiivsed uurimismeetodid (vaatlus, intervjueerimine, fookusgrupi intervjuu, juhtumiuuring). Kvalitatiivne sisuanalüüs. Kombineeritud (mixed) uurimismeetodid. Akadeemilise eetika põhimõtted (akadeemilise eetika koodeks). Kursus sisaldab praktiliste andmeanalüüsi ülesannete lahendamist, milleks kasutatakse MS Exceli tarkvara, IBM SPSS Statistics ja Google Colab.

Overview of quantitative and qualitative research methods. Quantitative and qualitative data collection. Collection of primary data through surveys, including survey structure and ethical requirements. Presentation of analysis results in figures and tables. Formulation and testing of hypotheses. Overview of widely used data analysis methods: an example of two-way analysis of variance, various correlation coefficients, regression models, factor analysis, and cluster analysis. Qualitative research methods, including observation, interviewing, focus group interviews, and case studies. Qualitative content analysis. Mixed methods of research. Principles of academic ethics, including the Code of Academic Ethics. The course includes practical data analysis exercises using MS Excel and IBM SPSS Statistics. Introduction to Research. the principles of academic ethics. The Critical Literature Review. The main features of two paradigms: Positivism and Interpretivism. Measurement of Variables: Scaling, Reliability and Validity.  Sampling. Quantitative Data Analysis. The Association Between Categorical Variables. Descriptive Quantitative Analysis. Correlation and Regression models. . Qualitative research. Analyzing qualitative data. Mixed methods. Decision-making tools.

Erialase lisakirjanduse lugemine. Praktikumi ajaks iseseisva loengumaterjali omandamine. Video- ja juhendmaterjali kasutamine kordamisülesannete lahendamisel. Valikvastustega enesekontrolli testid Moodle keskkonnas. Projektitööde koostamine ja lahenduse esitamine Moodle keskkonnas. Õppija tutvub teiste projektitöödega (individuaalselt) ning kommenteerib vähemalt neist kahte, vastates nende kirjadele foorumis.

Reading the specialized additional literature. Studing of lecture material individually. Using video and paper tutorials for solving problems. Self-assessment tests in the Moodle environment. Preparing project work and submitting the solution in the Moodle environment. The student will review other students’ project work individually and comment on at least two of them by replying to their messages in the forum.
