Aine eesmärk on luua tingimused omandamaks:
- ülevaadet maapõuepoliitikast, maavarade kaevandatavusest ja kaevandamisväärsust mõjutavatest maapõue ja maavarade omadustest, mäendustingimustest, kaevandamist ja kaevandatud alade korrastamist hõlmavatest tehnoloogiatest ning nende arengusuundadest;
- oskusi tehniliselt sobivate ja majanduslikult tasuvate protsesside kasutuselevõtmisel;
- teadmisi teineteisega sobivate mäemasinate kooslustest ja nende valiku printsiipidest;
- praktilisi kogemusi, külastades valdkonna ettevõtteid.
course aims in English
The aim of this course is to:
- an overview of subsurface (mineral resources) policy, the subsurface and mineral properties that influence the extractability and economic viability of mineral resources, mining conditions; and the technologies covering mining and the rehabilitation of mined areas, as well as their development trends;
- develop skills in adopting technically suitable and economically viable processes;
- increase the knowledge of the combinations of compatible mining machines and the principles of their selection;
- practical experience by visiting companies in the field.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- teeb erialaseid otsuseid, lähtudes maapõue seadusandlusest ning arvestades valdkondlikku eetikat ja ühiskonna ootusi maapõueressursside kasutamisel;
- kirjeldab kaevandamise ja väärindamise tervikahelat;
- eristab ja analüüsib erinevaid ava- ja allmaakaevandamise tehnoloogiaid, arvutab mäemasinate tootlikkust ning tootmise omahinda;
- koostab tehnoloogilisi skeeme, kombineerides masinate kooslusi käsilolevate probleemide lahendamiseks;
- esitleb ettevõtete külastustel põhinevat välitöö aruannet, kaitstes oma järeldusi argumenteeritult.

After completing this course the student:
- makes professional decisions based on the subsurface legislation and taking into account principles of professional ethics and societal expectations regarding the use of subsurface resources;
- describes the complete value chain of mining and mineral processing;
- distinguishes and analyzes different surface and underground mining technologies, and calculates the productivity of mining machinery and the unit cost of production;
- prepares technological flow diagrams, combining equipment systems to solve the given problem;
- presents a report based on industrial field practice (internship), defending their conclusions with arguments.
