Fossiilkütuste lähtematerjal. Söemoodustumise staadiumid. Metamorfoosi teed. Kütuste struktuuri ja omaduste määramise meetodid. Tahkekütuste klassifikatsioonid. Sapropeelkütused. Põlevkivid. Tahkekütuste töötlemise põhimeetodid: utmine, koksistamine, gaasistamine. Koksistamise tehnoloogia. Põlevkivi utmine ning uttesaaduste töötlemine ja utiliseerimine. Nafta päritolu ja keemiline koostis. Naftatöötlemise põhiprotsessid: destilleerimine, krakkimine, reformeerimine, rafineerimine. Maagaas, selle koostis, leidmine ja kasutamise teed.

Fossil fuels formation and raw materials. Stages of coal formation. Ways of metamorphosis. Methods for fuels structure and properties determination. Classification of solid fuels. Oil shales. The main treatment methods of solid fuels: semi-coking, coking and gasification. Technology of coking. Oil shale semi-coking, products treatment and utilization. Oil, its origin and chemical composition. The main processes of oil treatment: distillation, cracking, reformation, rafination. Natural gas, its composition, resources and methods of use.
