Aine eesmärk on:
- anda esmased teadmised elektroonikaseadme kui toote arendusest esmasest mõttest kuni valmis seadme või aparaadi prototüübini;
- tutvustada põhilisi etappe elektroonikaseadme väljatöötamisel;
- tutvustada lihtsamaid tehnoloogiaid, printsiipe ja ohutusnõudeid;
- tutvustada seadmete erinevaid toitelahendusi;
- tutvustada seadme kasutusmugavuse, komponentide paigutuse, kinnituste, keskkonnakindluse sõlmküsimusi ja nende parameetrite kohatist vastandlikkust.

The aim of the course is:
- to give students an overview of an electronic device from product development until the completion of a device or apparatus prototype;
- to introduce the main stages of developing an electronic device;
- to introduce basic technologies, principles and safety requirements, and different power solutions of devices.
Also, the students learn about the main challenges connected with user convenience, component placement, fixing, and environmental resistance, also the sporadic opposition of these parameters.

Üliõpilane oskab projekteerida ja valmis ehitada lihtsamat elektroonikaseadme prototüüpi, mille juures on lisaks esmasele funktsionaalsusele peetud silmas ka muid tulevase elektroonikaseadme parameetreid nagu ohutus, väljanägemine, kasutusmugavus, keskkonnakindlus ja töökindlus.

After the course the student can design and build a simple electronic device prototype which in addition to its functionality has other parameters of an electronic device like safety, appearance, user convenience, environmental resistance, and durability.

Stages of design. Printed circuit board technology and designing a printed circuit board with Autodesk Eagle software. Introduction to Autodesk Eagle. Pin connectors, strips, and joints. Cover design. Device safety. Equipment Safety Act. User interfaces (touch screens, buttons, switches, and manipulators). The environmental resistance classes of a device and ensuring a certain environmental resistance class. Device power solutions (power sources, energy efficiency, the heat and cold resistance of the power source). Questions arising from the usage of the device (ergonomics and user convenience, including user logic).
