Õppeaine eesmärk on anda tudengitele terviklik arusaam tööstusökoloogias kasutatavatest keskkonnatehnoloogilistest lahendustest, mis toetavad ressursitõhusust, jäätmete vähendamist ja reostuse kontrolli. Aine käigus tutvuvad õppurid nii bioloogiliste kui ka tehniliste meetoditega, mida rakendatakse keskkonnaseisundi parandamiseks ning tööstusprotsesside keskkonnamõju vähendamiseks.

The aim of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of environmental technology solutions used in industrial ecology that support resource efficiency, waste reduction, and pollution control. During the course, students will become familiar with both biological and technical methods that are applied to improve the state of the environment and reduce the environmental impact of industrial processes.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- selgitab tööstusökoloogia põhimõtteid ning nende seost keskkonnatehnoloogiliste lahenduste rakendamisega erinevates tööstusharudes;
- kirjeldab peamiste bioloogiliste ja tehniliste keskkonnatehnoloogiate toimimise põhimõtteid ning nende rolli reostuse vähendamisel ja ressursiringluse toetamisel;
- analüüsib ja tõlgendab tehnoloogiliste sekkumiste mõju materjali- ja energiavoogudele tööstusökosüsteemides, tuues välja olulisemad keskkonna- ja majanduslikud tegurid;
- võrdleb erinevate keskkonnaseire ja -kontrolli lähenemiste (sh digilahenduste) tugevusi ja piiranguid tööstusökoloogiliste väljakutsete kontekstis.

After completing this course the student:
- explains the principles of industrial ecology and their relationship to the implementation of environmental technology solutions in various industries;
- describes the principles of operation of the main biological and technical environmental technologies and their role in reducing pollution and supporting resource circulation;
- analyzes and interprets the impact of technological interventions on material and energy flows in industrial ecosystems, highlighting the most important environmental and economic factors;
- compares the strengths and limitations of different environmental monitoring and control approaches (including digital solutions) in the context of industrial ecological challenges.

Aine käsitleb tööstusökoloogias rakendatavaid keskkonnatehnoloogilisi lahendusi, rõhuga nii bioloogilistel kui tehnilistel meetoditel. Teemadena vaadeldakse kompostimist, vermikompostimist ja biotervendamist, reostuskontrolli ja õhusaaste vähendamise tehnoloogiaid. Lisaks uuritakse droonide kasutamise võimalusi keskkonnaseires ja järelvalves ning tutvutakse nanoosakeste rakendustega keskkonnatehnoloogias. Aine hõlmab biomassil põhinevat energiatootmist, veepuhastustehnoloogiaid ja heitmete töötlemise süsteeme. Õppurid saavad tervikliku arusaama keskkonnatehnoloogiate rollist tööstusökoloogilise mõtteviisi kujundamisel ja ressursitõhususe suurendamisel.
brief description of the course in English
The subject deals with environmental technology solutions applied in industrial ecology, with an emphasis on both biological and technical methods. Topics include composting, vermicomposting and bioremediation, pollution control and air pollution reduction technologies. In addition, the possibilities of using drones in environmental monitoring and surveillance are explored and the applications of nanoparticles in environmental technology are introduced. The subject covers biomass-based energy production, water treatment technologies and waste treatment systems. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of the role of environmental technologies in shaping an industrial ecological mindset and increasing resource efficiency.
