Aine eesmärk on tutvustada ÜRO rahvusvahelise kaubanduse konventsioone ja olulisemaid põhimõtteid ning norme, mida kohaldatakse ülepiirilises kaubanduses.

The aim of this course is to introduce the UN convention on the International Sale of Goods framework, the principles applicable and some of the most important regulations and concepts that are relevant in transnational commerce.

Kursuse edukal läbimisel üliõpilane:
- selgitab Üldise Tolli- ja Kaubandusleppe ja Maailma Kaubandusorganisatsiooni kaubanduse regulatsioonide ajaloolist arengut ning Maailma Kaubandusorganisatsiooni eesmärki, konkreetseid norme ja põhimõtteid, 4 peamist õiguslikku sammast, nt Üldine Tolli- ja Kaubanduslepe, Teenustekaubanduse Üldlepe, Kaubandusega seotud investeerimismeetmed ja Kaubandusega seotud intellektuaalomandiõiguse kokkulepe;
- analüüsib Maailma Kaubandusorganisatsiooni Kaubanduse ja Investeerimise Strateegia toimimist ja selle peamist õiguslikku regulatsiooni;
- leiab ja hindab käesoleva aja problemaatikat seoses Maailma Kaubandusorganisatsiooni poolt rahvusvahelise kaubanduse reguleerimisega.

Upon successful completion of this course students:
- explain the history of the international regulation of trade through the GATT/WTO, the scope, detailed provisions and underlying principles of the WTO’s, four main legal pillars, i.e. GATT, GATS, TRIMS and TRIPS;
- analyse the functioning of the WTO-DSM and its principal jurisprudence;
- finds and evaluates the recent controversies regarding the role of the WTO in regulating international trade.
