Aine eesmärk on anda uurimistöö koostamiseks vajalikud teadmised uurimismeetoditest ning arendada uurimismeetodite rakendamise ja nende kasutamise efektiivsuse hindamise oskust; ja anda praktilised oskused kvantitatiivsete ja kvalitatiivsete andmete töötlemiseks ning andmeanalüüsi läbiviimiseks ja tulemuste esitamiseks.

The aim of this course is to provide the necessary knowledge of research methods for the preparation of a research paper and to develop the ability to evaluate the application of research methods and the effectiveness of their use; and to provide practical skills for processing quantitative and qualitative data and performing data analysis and presenting results.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- oskab luua uurimuse jaoks vajalikku andmebaasi ning andmete analüüsis oskab kasutada nii kavntitatiivseid kui ka kvalitatiivseid analüüsi meetodeid;
- oskab saadud tulemustest järeldusi teha ning neid esitada uurimuse probleemist ja eesmärgist lähtuvalt;
- on viinud end kurssi uurimistöö eetikanõuetega ning oskab neid järgida uurimust läbi viies.

- can create the necessary database for the research and can use both quantitative and qualitative analysis methods in data analysis;
- can draw conclusions from the obtained results and present them based on the problem and purpose of the research;

Statistilise analüüsi meetodid, statistilised prognoosid,
hüpoteeside kontrollimine, hinnangute teooria ja aegrea analüüs. Kirjeldav ja järeldav
statistika. Andmete kogumine ja analüüs. Statistiliste andmete esitamine. Mitme muutuja analüüs: kontseptsioon, meetodite tüübid, üldine lineaarne mudel, sagedamini kasutatud meetodid. Faktoranalüüs: eelduste mudel, faktori väljavõtmine ehk loomine, rotatsioon, faktori tulemus. Regressioonanalüüs: mudel ja kasutustingimused. Tulemuste interpreteerimine. Mittelineaarsed mudelid. Latentsete ja vaadeldavate muutujate mudelid. Esinduslikkus. Andmete kogumise protseduurid. Testid ja küsimustikud. Vaatlus. Intervjuu. Interneti-põhised küsitlused. Andmetöötluse protseduurid. Hindamine: kontseptsioonid, tüübid, ja lähtekohad. Tulemuste esitamine ja järelduste sõnastamine.

Methods of statistical analysis, statistical forecasting, hypothesis testing, estimation theory and time series analysis. Descriptive and inferential statistics. Data collection and analysis. Submission of statistical data. Multivariate analysis: concept, types of methods, general linear model, commonly used methods. Factor analysis: assumption model, factor extraction or creation, rotation, factor result. Regression analysis: model and terms of use. Interpretation of results. Nonlinear models. Latent and observed variable models. Representativeness. Data collection procedures. Tests and questionnaires. Observation. An interview. Internet-based surveys. Data processing procedures. Evaluation: concepts, types, and starting points. Presentation of results and formulation of conclusions.
