To give knowledge and skills to solve problems related to a solid body equilibrium and motion.
To give basic knowledge for solving mechanics problems.
To provide knowledge about dynamics, i.e., the interaction of forces and motion.
To introduce modern computer software for solving problems of dynamics.

Ainekursuse läbimise tulemusena üliõpilane:
- omab ülevaadet staatika, kinemaatika ja dünaamika põhilistest teoreetilistest alustest;
- on võimeline koostama lihtsamaid arvutusskeeme tahkete kehade staatika, kinemaatika ja dünaamika ülesannete lahendamiseks;
- oskab lihtsamatel juhtudel tasakaalu- ja liikumisvõrrandeid lahendada analüütiliselt;
- on võimeline analüüsima lihtsamate ülesannete korral saadud tulemuste vastavust tegelikkusele;
- oskab rakendada kaasaegset arvutitarkvara lihtsamate ülesannete lahendamiseks;
- oskab interpreteerida tulemusi vastavalt ülesande püstitusele.

Having successfully passed the course, the student:
- have the general knowledge about the theoretical basics of the problems of Statics, Kinematics and Dynamics;
- is able to compile basic calculation schemes in order to solve the general problems of Statics, Kinematics and Dynamics of rigid bodies;
- is able to solve the basic equilibrium and motion equations analytically;
- is able to analyse the correspondence of the results obtained to reality;
- is able to apply modern computer software to solve simpler problems of statics, kinematics and dynamics;
- is able to interpret the results in terms of the original statement of the problem.

Jõud ja jõusüsteemid. Newtoni seadused. Sidemete reaktsioonid. Staatika aksioomid. Jõu projektsioon teljele ja tasapinnale. Jõudude geomeetriline ja analüütiline liitmine. Koonduv jõusüsteem. Jõu moment punkti ja telje suhtes. Jõupaar. Jõusüsteemi taandamine antud tsentrisse. Jõusüsteemi tasakaal. Tasakaalu tingimused. Liugehõõre ja veeretakistus. Raskuskese. Punkti liikumisvõrrandid, kiirus ja kiirendus. Tangentsiaal- ja normaalkiirendus. Jäiga keha rööpliikumine. Jäiga keha pöörlemine ümber kinnistelje. Force and force systems. Newton’s laws. Support reactions. Statics axioms. Projection of a force onto an axis and onto a plane. Geometrical and analytical addition of forces. Concurrent force system. Moment of a force about a point and about an axis. A couple. Reduction of a force system with respect to one point. Equilibrium of a force system. Conditions for the equilibrium. Sliding friction. Rolling resistance. Mass center. Function of motion, velocity and acceleration. Tangential and normal acceleration. Translation of rigid body. Rotation of rigid body. General plane motion. Relative motion. Compound motion. Dynamics of masspoint. Newton’s 2 law, equations of motion. Linear momentum, angular momentum. Impulse. Work of a force. Kinetic energy, potential energy, conservative forces, conservation of energy. Power and efficiency. Dynamics of rigid body. Rotation of rigid body about fixed axis, moments of inertia. Üliõpilased peavad semestri jooksul sooritama vaheeksamid staatika, kinemaatika ja dünaamika ülesannete kohta. Need kõik hinnatakse 10-punkti süsteemis. Olenevalt semestri lõpuks kogutud punktide arvule võivad üliõpilased saada vastava eksamihinde töö eest semestris juba kohe kätte. Seda hinnet saab parandada eksamil.
type of assessment in English
During a term students must successfully accomplish intermediate tests on topics of Statics, Kinematics and Dynamics. All of these are evaluated using 10-point scale. On the ground of exam session work, accomplished by a student, and depending on the sum of points accumulated by him by the end of the term, the student can get corresponding exam mark at the end of term immediately. This mark may be improved at the exam.

a) kontrolltööde ja ülesannete lahendamine: vastava materjali õppimine ja testide sooritamine;
b) ettevalmistus tunnikontrollideks ülesannete kohta;
c) ettevalmistus teooriatööks semestri lõpus;
