Tutvustada rahandusalaste uuringute tänapäevaseid kontseptsioone ja meetodeid ning õpetada üliõpilasi neid kriitiliselt hindama ja kasutama; anda teadmisi uurimisprotsessi planeerimiseks, uurimiskava koostamiseks, teoreetilise käsitluse ja praktilise uurimuse seostamiseks; süvendada doktorandide erialase kirjandusega töötamise kogemusi; anda neile võimalusi avalikuks esinemiseks ja oma seisukohtade esitamiseks.

To introduce contemporary concepts and methods of research in finance and to teach students for their critical evaluation and use; to give knowledge for planning research process, compile research plan, interconnect theoretical approach and empirical research; to extend the experience of the doctoral student in working with scientific literature in his/her field; to give an opportunity to practise public presentation and giving his/her own points of view.

Üliõpilane:
1. tunneb sotsiaalteaduslike uuringute tänapäevaseid kontseptsioone ja meetodeid;
2. omab põhjalikke teadmisi oma doktoritööga seotud teemal publitseeritud; teaduskirjanduses väljendatud seisukohtadest ja oskab neid analüüsida ning hinnata;
3. oskab ette kanda oma uurimistöö tulemusi;
4. oskab ette valmistada vähemalt kaks teadusartiklit;
5. oskab diskuteerida kaasdoktorantide uurimistöid.

The students will:
1. know contemporary concepts and methods of research in economics;
2. know the scientific publications within his/her topic of thesis, will be to analyze and evaluate the main statements;
3. be able to present own research papers;
4. prepare at least two scientific articles;
5. be able to discuss research papers with other doctoral students.

Perioodiliselt korraldatava seminari jooksul antakse laiapõhjaline ülevaade rahandusalaste uuringute tänapäevastestest kontseptsioonidest ja meetoditest; õpetatakse üliõpilasi neid kriitiliselt hindama ja kasutama; antakse teadmisi uurimisprotsessi planeerimiseks, uurimiskava koostamiseks, teoreetilise käsitluse ja praktilise uurimuse seostamiseks; üliõpilane töötab iseseisvalt juhendajaga kooskõlastatud programmi alusel talle vajalike allikmaterjalidega ning teeb loetud kirjandusest ja uurimistulemustest vastavatel seminaridel kaks referatiivset ülevaadet; samuti oponeerib üliõpilane kaasüliõpilaste ettekandeid ja osaleb aktiivselt rühmadiskussioonidel.

At the periodically organised seminar an introduction about contemporary concepts and methods of research in finance will be given; students will be teached for their critical evaluation and use; will be given knowledge for planning research process, compiling research plan and how to interconnect theoretical approach and empirical research; the student works independently on the programme agreed upon with the supervisor; makes two presentations based on the results of the research and references; also acts as an opponent for other doctoral students; actively participates in teamwork.

Seminaris tehtut hinnatakse arvestusega; arvesse võetakse tehtud referaatide põhjalikkus ja sisutihedus ning oma seisukohtade argumenteeritud esitamine; kursuse jooksul valmib igal üliõpilasel vähemalt kaks artiklit.

To pass the final test in the Special Workshop of Economics the following is taken into consideration: thoroughness and succinctness of the presented paper and well-founded presentation of his/her own statements; every student prepares at least two articles during the course.
