The student has an overview of bacterial molecular genetics and its specific aspects, understands the bacterial genetic nomenclature and the structure of bacterial plasmids. The student understands the methods used in practical exercises.

Bakterite genoom. Replikatsioon ja rakutsükli kontroll bakterites. Mutatsioonid ja reparatsioon bakterirakkudes. Plasmiidid, IS elemendid ja transposoonid bakterites. Geneetilise info ülekanne: konjugatsioon, transformatsioon ja transduktsioon. Transkriptsioon bakterirakus. Geeniekspressiooni regulatsioon bakterites. Globaalsed regulatsioonivõrgustikud. Stressivastused bakteritel.

Bacterial genome. Replication and control of the cell cycle in bacteria. Mutations and reparation in bacteria. Plasmids, IS elements and transposons and their mobility in bacteria. Transfer of genetic information in bacteria: conjugation, transformation, transduction. Transcription in bacteria. Regulation of gene expression in bacteria. Global regulatory networks. Stress-responses.
