VERSION SPECIFIC DATA
course aims in Estonian
Aine eesmärk on anda baasteadmised Maa geoloogilisest ehitusest ja geoloogilistest protsessidest, mineraalidest ja kivimitest, tutvustada planeedi arengulugu ja geoloogilisi uuringumeetodeid, õpetada selgeks põhiterminid.
course aims in English
The aim of this course is to provide general understanding of geology of Earth, geological processes, minerals and rocks; introduce geological history of the planet, main study methods and geological terminology.
learning outcomes in the course in Est.
Kursuse läbinud üliõpilane:
- teab geoloogia ja selle alasuundade sisu ning mõistab geoteaduste rolli kaasaegses ühiskonnas;
- tunneb Maa ehituse põhijooni ning keemilist ja mineraalset koostist, oskab määrata tavalisemaid mineraale ning tüüpilisi magma-, moonde- ja settekivimite tüüpe;
- teab endogeenseid ja eksogeenseid geoloogilisi nähtusi ja protsesse ning mõistab nendevahelisi seoseid;
- teab peamisi maapõueressursse ja nende geoloogilist sisu, on kursis geoloogiliste ohtudega;
- on omandanud arusaama geoloogilisest ajast ning teadmised Maa ja elu arenguloo peamistest etappidest ning olulisematest sündmustest;
- on kursis tähtsamate geoloogiliste uuringumeetoditega ning tunneb geoloogilist terminoloogiat.
learning outcomes in the course in Eng.
After completing this course, the student:
- knows the subject of geology and its subfields and understands the role of geosciences in modern society;
- understands the construction and composition of planet Earth, identifies common rock forming minerals, and typical igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rock types;
- knows the endogenic and exogenic geological phenomena and processes and understands their interrelationships;
- knows the main geological resources and their formation, understands geological hazards;
- has obtained the understanding of geological time and learned the main stages and events in the history of Earth and life;
- is aware of the main methods in geological prospecting and research and understands the basic geological terminology.
