- Anda ülevaade tööstuse keskkonnaprobleemidest ning tutvustada keskkonnatehnoloogia sisu ja ülesandeid.
- Tutvustada vee ja reovee põhilisi kvaliteedinäitajaid.
- Tutvustada joogiveetöötluse põhiprotsesse, seadmeid ning arvutuse aluseid.
- Tutvustada reoveetöötluse põhiprotsesse, seadmeid ning arvutuse aluseid.
- Tutvustada atmosfäärikaitse probleeme, saasteainete levi arvutust, heitgaaside puhastusprotsesse, seadmeid ning nende arvutust.

- To give an overview about the environmental problems in industry and to introduce environmental technology content and tasks.

- To introduce the problems of air pollution, pollutants dispersion models and pollution control equipment design.

Õppeaine positiivse tulemusega sooritanud üliõpilane:
- oskab sõnastada keskkonnakaitsega seotud probleeme ning analüüsida ja hinnata erinavaid lahendusi;
- tunneb tööstuse keskkonnakaitse probleeme ning oskab neile läheneda;
- oskab valida ja kujundada joogiveetöötluse protsesse;
- oskab valida ja kujundada reoveetöötluse protsesse;
- oskab valida ja kujundada heitgaaside töötluse protsesse;
- oskab valida ja kujundada tahkete ja ohtlike jäätmete käitluse protsesse;
- oskab hinnata keskkonnatehnoloogia tegevuse rolli ühiskonnas;

Keskkonnatehnoloogia ülesanded säästva arengu tagamisel. Näiteid põhilistest tootmisprotsessidest Eestis ja välismaal. Tööstuse keskkonnaprobleemid ja nende lahendusteed. Veevarud, kvaliteet ja tarbimine. Vee kvaliteedi põhinäitajad ning EL joogivee direktiiv. Joogivee tootmise protsessid (eeltöötlemine, koagulatsioon ja flokulatsioon, setitamine, flotatsioon, filtrimine, desinfitseerimine). Täiustatud puhta vee tootmise protsessid (raua- ja mangaaniärastus, pehmendamine (keemiline sadestamine, ioonvahetus), membraanprotsessid (mikrofiltratsioon, ultrafiltratsioon, nanofiltratsioon, pöördosmoos, elektrodialüüs), adsorptsioon, eriprotsessid). Reovete aeroobne ja anaeroobne bioloogiline puhastus. Atmosfääri saasteained, omadused, levi ning kriitilised saasteained. Heitgaaside puhastus (kondensatsioon, absorptsioon, adsorptsioon, filtrimine, sadestamine elektriväljas, märgpuhastus). Tahked kommunaal- ja tööstusjäätmed, klassifikatsioon, omadused. Ohtlikud jäätmed. Tahkete jäätmete käitluse tehnoloogia (anaeroobne kääritamine, termiline töötlus, ladestamine prügilatesse). Ohtlike jäätmete keemiline, füüsikaline ja termiline käitlus (põletamine).

Tasks of environmental technology to guarantee sustainable development of society. Examples of the main industrial processes in Estonia and abroad. Environmental problems in industry and possible ways for solution. Water resources, quality and consumption. The main water quality parameters and Drinking Water Directive (DWD) of EU. Processes of drinking water treatment (pre-treatment, coagulation and flocculation, sedimentation, flotation, filtration, disinfection). Advanced water treatment technologies (iron and manganese removal, softening of water (chemical precipitation, ion-exchange), membrane processes (microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, osmosis, reverse osmosis, electrodialysis), adsorption, specific processes). Aerobic and anaerobic biological treatment of wastewater. Air pollutants, properties, dispersion and critical pollutants. Gaseous effluents treatment (condensation, absorption, adsorption, filtration, sedimentation in electric field, wet purification). Solid municipal and industrial wastes, classification, properties. Hazardous wastes. Treatment of solid wastes (anaerobic digestion, thermal treatment, disposal on landfills). Chemical, physical and thermal treatment (incineration) of hazardous wastes.
