Magistriseminari eesmärk on:
- töötada välja magistritöö ülesandepüstitus;
- teha ülevaade magistritöö teemaga seotud kirjandusest;
- arendada tehnikaid, kuidas leida usaldusväärseid kirjandusallikaid;
- anda ülevaade erinevatest uurimismeetoditest ning valida antud probleemi lahendamiseks sobiv meetod.

The aim of the Master's Seminar is to:
- develop a master's thesis problem statement;
- perform a survey of literature related to the thesis topic;
- develop techniques how to find trustworthy sources;
- give an overview of various research methods and choose a method appropriate for solving the particular problem.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- rakendab uurimistöös teadusliku uurimistöö põhimõtteid;
- järgib magistritööle esitatavaid nõudeid ja koostab magistritöö põhjendatud ülesandepüstituse;
- leiab erialastest andmebaasidest sobivate otsingustrateegiate abil teaduslikku kirjandust ja hindab selle kvaliteeti;
- rakendab teadusliku kirjanduse lugemise ja analüüsi meetodeid;
- eristab ja valib põhjendatult oma uurimistöö jaoks sobivaid teaduslikke meetodeid;
- koostab, esitab enda uurimistöö kavandi, põhjendades ja selgitades oma valikuid ning oskab vastata küsimustele.

On completion of the course, the student:
- applies the principles of scientific research in their research work;
- follows the requirements for a master’s thesis and develops a justified problem statement;
- locates scientific literature using specialised databases and appropriate search strategies, and assesses its quality;
- applies scientific literature reading and analysing methods effectively;
- distinguishes and justifies the selection of suitable research methods for their research;
- prepares, and presents their research proposal, explaining and justifying their choices and answers questions.

Aine raames täpsustatakse juhendajalt saadud magistritöö teema ning formuleeritakse uurimisküsimused ja valitakse sobiv uurimismeetod. Tehakse kirjanduse ülevaade ja vormistatakse see kirjalikult. Koostatakse magistritöö tegemise projektiplaan ning magistritöö esialgne kava.

The topic received from the supervisor will be narrowed down, relevant research questions formulated, and appropriate research method selected. The related work research will be carried out and written up. The plan of performing the master's thesis work will be formulated and a draft plan of the thesis will be developed.

Hindamine toimub jooksvalt semestri jooksul. Vajalik on aktiivne osavõtt seminaridest ning nõuetele vastava ülesandepüstituse koostamine kirjalikult ja selle tutvustamine kaasüliõpilastele ning kirjalikult vormistatud asjakohast kirjanduse ülevaadet sisaldava magistritöö kavandi esitamine.

Students are evaluated based on continuous assessment. It is necessary to actively participate in the seminars and preparation of a problem statement in writing that satisfies stated requirements. In addition it is necessary to submit an initial draft of the thesis containing a relevant literature survey.
