Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- oskab struktureerida ja vormistada uurimistööd vastavalt osakonna nõuetele;
- koostab uuringu metodoloogilise plaani ja nõutavaid andmekogumise instrumente;
- püstitab asjakohaseid uurimisküsimusi ja valib sobiva meetodi;
- mõistab, kuidas hinnata akadeemilise uurimistöö kvaliteeti, ja tunneb uuringule esitatavaid põhilisi kvaliteedikriteeriume;
- tuvastab ja võrdleb eri uurimismudeleid.

After completing this course the student:
- can structure research and format thesis as determined by departmental requirements;
- designs research for a master’s thesis including the data collection instruments required;
- is able to write research questions and decide the methodology of the research;
- understands how to judge the quality of academic research and be able to evaluate research based on specific appropriate criteria;
- can recognize and compare different research designs.

Kursusel õpetatakse, kuidas valida sobiv uurimistöö meetod, kuidas uurimistööd kavandada ja selle kvaliteeti hinnata.
Kursus annab projekte, juhtimispõhist õpet ja varasemate uuringute arutelusid kasutades põhjaliku ülevaate kvalitatiivsetest ja kvantitatiivsetest uurimismeetoditest, disainiteadustest, katsetest, juhtumiuuringutest, tegevusuuringutest, hindamisuuringutest ja disainiuuringute kavanditest, intervjuudest ning verbaalsete ja logiandmete analüüsist.
Iseseisva töö käigus koostavad ja esitavad üliõpilased uurimistöö kavandi, näidates arusaamist kursusematerjalidest ja oskust neid uurimistöös kasutada.
brief description of the course in English
The purpose of this course is to teach students how to approach, design, evaluate, and conduct research. By using projects, case-based learning, as well as discussions of previous research, students will have an engaging introduction to research designs for qualitative and quantitative methods, design sciences, experiments, case studies, action research, evaluation research, as well as conducting interviews, and analysis of verbal and log data.
During the home assignments, students will write a research plan and research proposal to show their understanding of the tenets of the course materials and how they apply to the thesis the student will complete.
