Anda teadmised ja oskused tervisedenduse ja tervisepoliitika põhikontseptsioonidest, printsiipidest, teooriatest, analüüsi-, rakenduse- ja hindamismeetoditest ning tervisepoliitikatest erinevates ühiskondades. Anda teadmised neid oskusi rakendada rahvastike tervise arendusel.

To give knowledge and skills of the concepts, principles, theories, assessment, implementation and evaluation methods of the health promotion and health policies in different societies. To give knowledge to capable to implement these skills for the population health development.

Aine läbinud üliõpilased on kursis peamiste tervisedenduse ja tervisepoliitika kontseptsioonidega, põhimõtetega, teooriate ja mudelitega ning on suutlikud neid rakendama praktikas;
• on võimelised analüüsima erinevaid rahvastiku tervist mõjutavaid tegureid;
• oskavad kavandada, planeerida ja ellu viia rahvastiku tervise edenduse programme;
• on suutelised määratlema rahvastiku terviseprobleeme ja ressursse, analüüsima ja sünteesima vajalikku informatsiooni otsuste tegemiseks;
• on omandanud oskused kavandada tervisepoliitikaid, arengukavasid ja nende hindamisplaane nii riigi, regiooni, organisatsiooni kui kogukonna tasandil;
• suudavad teostada tervisevajaduste analüüse ja teha tervisepoliitilisi ettepanekuid;
• on kursis tervisepoliitikatega erinevates ühiskondades ning rahvusvaheliste terviseorganisatsioonide rollide ja tegevussuundadega.

•after passing the course student knows main health promotion and policy concepts, principles, theories, models and frameworks, and is capable to apply these in practice;
•is able to analyze different health determinants impacts and importance to population health;
• is familiar with the health development planning and implementation methods, inc. problem statement, needs assessment and intervention types;
• is capable to determine, analyze and synthesize required information for the decision-making process;
• has acquired practical skills in conceptualization state/region/organization health n and policy situation, compose action strategies and evaluation plans;
•is able to substantiate needs for health development and political decisions;
•has acquired overview of the health policies in different societies and in international organizations.

Aines tutvustatakse;
- terviseenduse ja tervisepoliitika peamisi kontseptsioone, teooriaid ja mudeleid;
- tervise sotsiaalmajanduslikke, poliitilisi, psühholoogilisi, füsioloogilisi, käitumuslikke, keskkondlikke ja kultuurilisi mõjureid;
- praktiseeritakse tervisevajaduste analüüsi meetodite rakendamist; tervisestrateegiate planeerimist, sh missiooni, visiooni, eesmärkide ja väärtuste analüüse, tervisestrateegiate koostamist ja hindamisplaanide kavandamist;
- käsitletakse erinevaid filosoofilisi lähenemisi tervisedenduses ja tervisepoliitikate kujundamisel, rakendamisel ja hindamisel;
- viiakse üliõpilased kurssi tõenduspõhise tervisepoliitika põhimõtetega;
- tutvustatakse tervisepoliitikaid erinevates ühiskondades ning rahvusvaheliste ja globaalsete terviseorganisatsioonide rolli, eesmärkke ja funktsioone.

Topics presented are following: health promotion and policy concepts, theories and models; health determinants – socio-economical, political, psychological, fysiological and environmental factors health impacts; stages of the health policy development; influential international health policy documents; health development and policy planning – needs assessment, methods and processes; health policy mission, vision, goals; design of health strategies; composing of action plans; different philosophical approaches to the health promotion and policy planning; implementation methods and strategies; evaluation of health development; health impact assessment of policies and programs - concepts, methods and types; health and social policies in different societies and internationally.
