Õppeaine eesmärk on anda meditsiinitehnika ja -füüsika eriala üliõpilastele ettekujutus tulevase erialase töö spetsiifikast ja korralduslikest külgedest: tervishoiu süsteemist, selle organisatsioonist, meditsiinitehnika järelvalve ja sertifitseerimise korraldusest ja juriidilistest külgedest, aparatuuripoliitika korraldamisest meditsiiniasutustes.

The aim of this course is to provide students of medical engineering and medical physics with an understanding of the specifics and organisational aspects of their future professional work, including the healthcare system and its organisation, the regulation and certification of medical technology, the legal aspects involved, and the management of equipment policy in healthcare institutions.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- mõistab tervisetehnoloogiate rolli ja eesmärke tervishoiusüsteemis;
- identifitseerib tervisetehnoloogiatega seotud eetilisi aspekte (bio)meditsiini-, inseneeria- ja meditsiinifüüsika rakendustes ning otsib võimalikele kaasustele lahendusi;
- sünteesib olulisemate õigusaktide kohaldamist meditsiinitehnika ja -füüsika kasutusele tervishoiusüsteemis ning tervisetehnoloogiaid puudutavate kaasuste puhul pöördub vajaliku õigusakti poole või otsib õigusabi;
- rakendab tõenduspõhise meditsiini printsiipe meditsiiniinseneeria ja meditsiinifüüsika praktikas ning uurimistöös, kasutades asjakohaseid meetodeid tõenduspõhise teabe hankimiseks;
- rakendab tervishoiu kvaliteedi ja patsiendiohutuse üldpõhimõtteid tervishoiuteenuse osutamisel meditsiiniinseneri ja meditsiinifüüsiku rollis;
- täidab meditsiiniinseneri ja -füüsiku rolli tervishoiutiimis, arendades seda rolli oma professionaalse tegevuse kaudu.

After completing this course the student:
- understands the role and objectives of health technologies within the healthcare system;
- identifies ethical issues related to health technologies in (bio)medical, engineering, and medical physics applications and seeks appropriate solutions to relevant cases;
- synthesizes the application of key legal acts governing the use of medical engineering and medical physics in the healthcare system and, in cases related to health technologies, is able to refer to the relevant legislation or seek appropriate legal guidance;
- applies the principles of evidence-based medicine in medical engineering and medical physics practice as well as in research, using appropriate methods to obtaining evidence-based information;
- applies the general principles of healthcare quality and patient safety in the provision of healthcare services in the role of a medical engineer or medical physicist;
- performs the role of a medical engineer and medical physicist within the healthcare team developing this role through professional practice.

Kursuse loengutes ja seminarides käsitletakse meditsiinitehnika korralduse õiguslikke regulatsioone ja eetika põhimõtteid ning meditsiinitehnika riiklikku järelevalvet. Aine praktikamoodulis tutvutakse meditsiinitehnika korraldusega tervishoiuasutustes.

During lectures and seminars, the legal regulations governing medical technology management, ethical principles, and state supervision of medical technology are addressed. The practical module of the course introduces the organization and management of medical technology within healthcare institutions.
