Basic understanding about the methods of measuring physiological parameters and characteristics, types and interconnections of biomedical sensors in biomedical engineering.

1. tunneb mõõdetavate füsioloogiliste parameetritega seotud sensorite põhilisi (1) parameetreid; (2) omadusi, (3) erinevate parameetrite vahelisi seoseid, (4) põhilisi meetodeid ja füsioloogilisi mõõteallikaid;
2. oskab selgitada füsioloogiliste parameetrite mõõtemisega seotud sensorite põhimõtteid, statistilist esitust ja vigade hindamist;
3. oskab rakendada ja asjakohaselt hinnata füsioloogiliste parameetrite mõõtmistega seotud sensorite põhimõtteid ja tulevikuperspektiive meditsiinitehnikas;
4. omab paremat erialast eneseväljendusoskust suuliselt ja kirjalikult kasutades füsioloogiliste parameetrite mõõtmistega seotud sensorite erialast sõnavara;
5. omab iseseisva töö ja füsioloogiliste parameetrite mõõtmistega seotud sensorite teoreetiliste ülesannete lahendamise kogemust kodutööde sooritamisel;
6. omab füsioloogiliste parameetrite mõõtmistega seotud sensorite praktiliste ja teoreetiliste ülesannete lahendamise kogemust grupitööde ja laborite sooritamisel;
7. omab tehnilise sisuga aruannete koostamise ja selgitamise kogemust analüüsides ja hinnates oma mõtte- ja tegevuskäiku laboriaruannete kaitsmisel.

1. is able to describe knowledge about the measurements with biomedical sensors in physiology in relation to (1) parameters; (2) properties; (3) relationships between the parameters; (4) main methods and physiological sources;
2. explain the principles, statistical representation and errors of the biomedical sensors for the measurements in physiology;
3. implement and assess the principles and future perspectives of biomedical sensors in biological tissues and fluids;
4. possess increased skills in professional communication orally as well as in written form related to biomedical sensors for physiological measurements in connection through implementing professional vocabulary;
5. possess increased independent professional skills related to biomedical sensors for physiological measurements in connection to homeworks and written tests;
6. possess increased team working and theoretical and practical skills related to biomedical sensors for physiological measurements in connection to laboratory works;
7. possess increased analytical and explanatory skills related to biomedical sensors for physiological measurements in connection to composing and defending laboratory works.

Sensoorsed süsteemid, signaalid, meetodid ja aparatuur füsioloogiliste parameetrite diagnostikaks. Sensorite põhitüübid. Optilised mõõtesüsteemid. Vereringesüsteemi uurimise meetodid ja monitooring. Vererõhu mõõturid ja vere fonograafia. Verevoolu ja hulga mõõturid. Hingamissüsteemi uurimise meetodid: rõhu, gaasi voolu, kopsu parameetrite mõõtmised; respiratoorne pletüsmograafia; gaasi kontsentratsioon ja transport; hingamise monitooring. Keemilised biosensorid: elektrokeemilised, keemilised, ioon-selektiivsed sensorid, vere glükoosi sensorid. Sensorid neeruasendusravi aparatuuris. Meetodid metaboloomikas: kõrgsurvevedelikkormatograafia, massispektromeetria. Biokeemilised ja optilised meetodid ning bioloogilised ohutegurid meditsiinilaboris. Tuleviku perspektiivid ja arengusuunad.

Signals, methods and instrumentation in physiological measurement systems. Basic sensor types. „Vital signs“ approach. Methods or studying and monitoring the circulatory system. Optical measurement systems. Photoplethysmography. Pressure and sound of blood. Blood flow and volume measurements and monitoring. Respiratory system: measurements of pressure, gas flow, lung volume; respiratory plethysmography; gas concentration and transport; monitoring of respiration. Sensors in haemodialysis equipment. Methods in metabolomics: high-performance liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry. Biochemical and optical methods and biological hazards in medical laboratory. Perspectives and future directions.
