VERSION SPECIFIC DATA
course aims in Estonian
Õppeaine eesmärkideks on:
• anda tudengitele võimalus rakendada varem õpitud tehnilisi teadmisi ühe suurema projekti elluviimise käigus;
• anda tudengitele praktilise töö kogemus elektroonika, tehnoloogia ja side teemalistes projektides;
• anda tudengitele grupitöö kogemus mitme kuu vältel grupiga ühise eesmärgi nimel tegutsedes;
• anda tudengitele võimalus teoreetiliste teadmiste väärtuse hindamiseks ja õpitu reaal-elulisse perspektiivi asetamiseks.
course aims in English
This study subject is meant for a student who has completed bachelor studies in the field of IT, power engineering, mechanics or physics. Participation in a group work requires knowledge in either electronics, programming or mathematics that is related to mechanics or physics.
The goals or the course are:
• to give students the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have accumulated in previous studies in realization of a larger project;
• to give students practical work experience in electronics, technology and communications related projects;
• to give students the experience of group work with a common goal during several months;
• to give students the opportunity to understand the value of theoretical knowledge and to put it in a real-life perspective.
learning outcomes in the course in Est.
learning outcomes in the course in Eng.
The student can work in a group for a common goal.
The student can apply the theoretical knowledge he/she has previously acquired in real-life problem-solving.
The student can assess the consequences of his/her decisions and actions in a framework of a technology development project.
The student can document his/her work and acquired knowledge and can understand it’s importance in a group-project setting.
brief description of the course in Estonian
Projektipõhine õppeaine, kus tudengite rühmale antakse eesmärk tehnoloogilise-elektroonse seadme või süsteemi koostamiseks. Tudengite rühma juhendatakse koos töötama ühise eesmärgi nimel, dokumenteerima projekti arengut ning jäädvustama oma isiklikku panust projekti.
Semestripikkuse töö tulemusena valmib elektrooniline seade või süsteem, mille valmimisse on andnud panuse kõik rühma liikmed.
brief description of the course in English
This is a project-based study subject where a team of students is given a task to design and compose a technological-electronic device or system. The student team is supervised to work as a team for a common goal, to document the progress of the project and to also document the role of each student in the project.
During the course of a semester-long work an electronic device or system is born as a common effort of every participant.
type of assessment in Estonian
type of assessment in English
Every student fills his/her own portfolio during the course of the project – saving documents, photos, proofs, links, code, drawings, figures and descriptions of how he/she is personally involved in it.
In the middle of the semester every student writes a report of his/her actions and a self-assessment with a grade. All students read this report, give it comments and a grade. In effect each student reads the reports of all team members, comments and grades them (0..5).
Students get all that info on their progress and have a chance to change themselves and improve based on the half-semester evaluation.
At the end of the semester the students will give a presentation of the completed system and demonstrate its’ performance. After that the students write a final personal report, self-evaluation and then read all the reports of other students to give comments and grades.
The course supervisors read these reports, self-evaluations and grades by other students and based on all that information they give each student a final grade for the study subject (0..5).
