VERSION SPECIFIC DATA
course aims in Estonian
Aine eesmärk on anda õppijale laiapõhjalised teoreetilised ja praktilised teadmised tarkade asjade (asjade internet, IoT) rakendustest, enamkasutatavatest sidestandarditest ja seadmeplatvormidest.
course aims in English
The aim of the course is to provide the student with broad theoretical and practical overview of Smart Things (Internet of Things, IoT) applications, widely used communication standards and device platforms.
learning outcomes in the course in Est.
Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- leiab ja hindab kriitiliselt uut Asjade Interneti e. IoT tehnoloogiatega seotud informatsiooni;
- kirjeldab peamisi IoT rakendusvaldkondi;
- nimetab IoT seadmete funktsionaalseid sõlmi ja IoT valdkonnas olulisi andureid;
- valib ette antud tingimustes sobivaima lühimaa andmesidevõrkude ja sideprotokolle (sh juhtmega ja juhtmeta);
- hindab kaasaegsete IoT seadmete piiranguid arvutusvõimuse, energiaefektiivsuse ja sidevõimekuse alal;
- tuvastab ja haldab turva- ning privaatsusriske madala energiatarbega juhtmevabades võrkudes.
learning outcomes in the course in Eng.
A student who has completed the course:
- finds and validates new information related to IoT technologies;
- describes the main Smart Things application areas;
- names functional blocks and essential sensors of IoT devices;
- selects the most appropriate short-range communication technologies and protocols (wired and wireless) under the given conditions;
- evaluates real-life limitations of computational performance, energy efficiency and connectivity of modern IoT devices;
- identifies and manages security and privacy concerns in low power wireless networks.
brief description of the course in Estonian
Ülevaade tarkade asjade kasutusaladest – targad kodud, targad linnad, tark põllumajandus, targad sõidukid, tööstuse asjade internet, targad meditsiiniseadmed, inimeste internet. Spetsiaalandurid, raadiomärgiste (RFID) tehnoloogiad ja tarkade asjade energiakorje. Olulised juhtmeta ja juhtmega sidetehnoloogiad lähivõrkudes, naabrusvõrkudes ja madala energiatarbega kaugvõrkudes. Kerkivad probleemid IoT turvalisuse, privaatsuse ja andmete ühilduvuse alal. Pilve- ja uduarvutuse eripärad. IP-protokollidel ja semantikal rajaneva andmevahetuse eriomadused. Kursuse fookus on IoT riistvaralahendustel ja lühimaa andmesidel.
brief description of the course in English
Overview of Smart Things use areas - smart homes, smart cities, smart agriculture, smart vehicles, industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), and Internet of People (IoP). Advanced sensorics, RFID technologies and energy harvesting for Smart Things. Leading wireless and wired connectivity technologies for personal area networking (PAN), neighborhood area networking (NAN) and low power wide area networking (LPWAN). Emerging issues of IoT security, privacy and data interoperability. Cloud computing vs fog computing. Special properties of IP-protocol based IoT networking of sematic data exchange. The focus of the course is on IoT hardware solutions and short-range communication.
