Aine eesmärk on anda õppijale laiapõhjalised teadmised ja oskused nii olemasolevate kui uudsete telekommunikatsioonisüsteemide kavandamiseks.

The aim of the course is to provide the student with broad-based knowledge of both existing and novel telecommunications systems.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- klassifitseerib ja kirjeldab nii olemasolevates kui ka uudsetes telekommunikatsioonisüsteemides kasutatavaid tehnoloogiaid;
- planeerib ja kavandab projektülesandena oma telekommunikatsioonisüsteemi vastavalt juhendaja etteantud tingimustele;
- valib välja projektülesande raames kavandatavale telekommunikatsioonisüsteemile sobilikud tehnoloogiad;
- demonstreerib oma sügavaid teadmisi projektiülesande raames loodud telekommunikatsioonisüsteemis kasutatavate tehnoloogiate kohta.

After completing this course, the student:
- classifies and explains novel and existing technologies used for telecommunication systems;
- plans and designs one’s own telecommunication system for given conditions as a project task;
- selects suitable technologies when designing one’s own telecommunication system;
- demonstrates deep knowledge about the selected technologies for the telecommunication system designed.

4G/5G ja tulevased sidesüsteemid: mobiilside areng, 5G raadioliides, 5G NR füüsiline ressurss, kanalid ja signaalid, 5G kärjevahetus ja mobiilsuse haldus.
Tuumvõrk: 3GPP 5G standardi ülevaade, 5G tuumvõrk, võrgu viilutamine, asjade internet (IoT) – sidetehnoloogiad.
Eriteemad: mobiilne IoT, mobiilne positsioneerimine, raadiojuurdepääsu tehnikad, Open RAN ja liidesed, MIMO, kooperatiivne kommunikatsioon, seadmelt seadmele (D2D) kommunikatsioon.

4G/5G and beyond communication systems: wireless evolution, 5G air interface, 5G NR physical resource, channels and signals, 5G handover and mobility management.
Core network: 3GPP 5G Standard Overview, 5G core network, network slicing, Internet of Things (IoT) - communication technologies.
Advanced topics: cellular IoT, mobile positioning, radio access techniques, Open RAN and interfaces, MIMO, cooperative communications, device to device (D2D) communications.
