Aine läbinud üliõpilane:
• teab multimeediainfo ja -teenuste põhitüüpe, oskab selgitada nendega
seotud tehnoloogiate toimimist
• oskab süsteemi parameetrite valikul arvesse võtta multimeediainfo tajumisega seotud nõudeid ja piiranguid
• omab ülevaadet optilise kujutise salvestamismeetoditest ja -vahenditest
• oskab kirjeldada erinevaid andmekandjatüüpe (SSD, HDD, BluRay, DVD, CD,
LTO) ja -struktuure (SAN, NAS, andmeladu, RAID)
• oskab selgitada videosüsteemide omadusi, parameetreid ja erinevust
• omab ülevaadet erinevatest multimeedia infrastruktuuri komponentidest
• omab ülevaadet erinevatest multimeedia kasutusvaldkondadest
• saab aru video formaatide ja konteinerite otstarbest ning omadustest.
• on omandanud praktilised oskused multimeedia teenuse kvaliteeti määravate seadmete ja sidekanalite parameetrite mõõtmiseks
• oskab kasutada audio- ja videotöötlustarkvara

After having successfully passed the course a student:
• knows basic types of multimedia data and services, can explain technology behind them.
• knows and is able to take into account audiovisual information perception-related requirements and limitations
• has understanding of methods and tools used for recording audiovisual data.
• is able to describe different types of media (SSD, HDD, BluRay, DVD, CD,
LTO) and storage technologies (RAID, NAS, SAN, data centers)
• is able to explain properties of video systems, their parameters and differences between them
• has an understanding of different components in multimedia infrastructure
• has an understanding of different usage areas of multimedia
• understands functions and properties of video formats and containers
• has gained practical skills working with equipment for estimating multimedia quality of service and for measuring parameters of communication channel
• is familiar with audio and video processing software

Aines käsitletakse multimeedia tehnoloogiate põhimõtteid allikast kuni teenuse tarbijani. Heli- ja kujutisesignaalide põhiparameetrid. Audiovisuaalse info tajumine. Andmekandjad ja nende toimimise alused. Kuvaritehnoloogiad. Multimeedia teenuste tüübid ja põhiparameetrid. Teenuste kvaliteedi tagamise meetodid. Multimeediavoo edastus- ja juhtprotokollid. Andmekandjad. Multimeedia valdkonna infrastruktuurid. Multimeedia tarbimisharjumused. Videosüsteemide ja multimeedia platvormide tutvustus. Audio- ja videotöötlus.

This course deals with multimedia technologies from the data source to the consumer. Perception of audiovisual information. Media storage technologies and its working principles. Monitor technologies. Types and basic parameters of multimedia services. Methods of ensuring quality of service. Transmission and presentation protocols used in multimedia streaming. Infrastructures used to provide multimedia services. Multimedia consuming habits. Overview of video systems and multimedia platforms. Audio and video processing.
