Õppeaine eesmärk on:
- tutvustada uue toote kontseptsiooni loomise, selle projekteerimise ja prototüüpimise põhimõtteid;
- selgitada tootestatavuse, tootedokumentatsiooni loomise, töökindluse ja riskianalüüsi lähenemisi;
- tutvustada kaasaegset elektroonikatootmist, seadmeid, protsesse ja lähenemisnurki ning tulevikutrende;
- anda ülevaade test-disainist ja testimisvõimalustest elektroonikaseadmete arendamisel ja tootmisel;
- anda struktuurne ülevaade elektroonikatoote elutsükli halduse põhimõtetest;
- tutvustada elektroonikatööstusele ja -toodetele rakenduvaid standardeid ja sertifitseerimisnõudeid.

The aim of this course is to:
- introduce the principles of creating a new product concept, its design and prototyping;
- explain the principles of product feasibility, documentation creation, reliability, and risk analysis;
- introduce modern electronics production, equipment, processes, approaches and future trends;
- provide an overview of test design and testing options in the development and production of electronic devices;
- provide a structural overview of the principles of electronic product life cycle management;
- introduce the standards and certification requirements applicable to the electronics industry and products.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- kavandab ja selgitab uue toote juurutamise protsessi;
- selgitab Design for Excellence strateegia põhimõtteid ja oskab nende kasutamist näidete põhjal iseloomustada;
- eristab tekkinud intellektuaalomandi tunnuseid ja koostab patendiülevaate;
- orienteerub elektroonikatoodetele rakenduvates standardites ja sertifitseerimisnõuetes;
- tunneb tootmisalade paigutuse lähenemisi ja projekteerib tootmisüksuse plaani;
- iseloomustab elektroonikatoodete testimise võimalusi.

After completing this course the student:
- plans and explains the process of introducing a new product;
- explains the principles of the Design for Excellence strategy and can characterize their use based on examples;
- distinguishes the characteristics of the emerging intellectual property and prepares a patent overview;
- is familiar with the standards and certification requirements applicable to electronic products;
- knows the approaches to the layout of production areas and designs a production unit plan;
- characterizes the possibility of testing electronic products.

Seadmete töökindluse, keskkonna ja ohutuskriitilisuse erinõuded. IPC nõuded inseneri vaatenurgast. Tootestatavus ja riskianalüüs. Prototüüpimine. Tootedokumentatsiooni loomine ja versioonihaldus.
