VERSION SPECIFIC DATA
course aims in Estonian
Aine eesmärk on tekitada arusaam elektromagnetnähtuste füüsikalisest olemusest ja praktilisetest rakendustest insenertehnikas.
course aims in English
The goal of the subject is to introduce fundamentals of electromagnetic phenomena and its applications in engineering.
learning outcomes in the course in Est.
Aine läbinud üliõpilane:
- teab elektromagnetilisi nähtuseid kirjeldavaid põhisuuruseid ja nendevahelisi seoseid ning suudab abimaterjale kasutades neid kirjeldada;
- kirjeldab elektromagnetlainete teket ja olemust, neid iseloomustavaid parameetreid ja nende kulgemist lihtsamates keskkondades ja keskkondade piiril;
- lahendab iseseisvalt abimaterjalidele tuginedes õpitud teooriaga seotud ülesandeid;
- oskab iseseisvalt korrata praktikumides läbiviidud mõõtmisi, kasutades samu mõõtevahendeid;
- analüüsib omandatud teoreetiliste aluste baasi mõõtmiste ja arvutuste tulemusi ja teeb nende põhjal lihtsamaid järeldusi.
learning outcomes in the course in Eng.
Student who has passed the subject:
- knows main variables of electromagnetic theory and relations between them. Is able to describe those relations with the help of course materials;
- describes the formation and nature of electromagnetic waves, the parameters that characterize them, their propagation within simpler environments and at the boundaries between environments;
- solves theory-related exercises independently when the use of auxiliary materials is allowed;
- can independently repeat measurements performed in lab with the same measuring instruments;
- analyses the results of measurements and calculations on the basis of acquired theoretical knowledge and draws simpler conclusions based on those results.
brief description of the course in Estonian
Elektri- ja magnetväli, staatiline ja vahelduv, neid kirjeldavad seaduspärad ja parameetrid. Elektromagnetvälja põhivõrrandid – Maxwelli võrrandid, integraalsel- diferentsiaalsel ja komplekskujul. Erinevad levikeskkonnad: dielektrikud ja juhid, piiritingimused erinevate keskkondade kokkupuutekohas. Elektromagnetlaine, selle omadused ja parameetrid. EM lainete levi erinevates keskkondades, lainete peegeldumine ja murdumine, ülekandeliinid.
brief description of the course in English
Base equations of electromagnetic fields and their physical interpretation. Boundary conditions. Maxwell’s equations. Electromagnetic waves in homogenous environments. Waves in free space, reflection and refraction of waves. Waves in waveguides, antenna radiation process. Antenna matching, transmission lines and waveguides. Smith chart.
