course aims in Estonian
Õppeaine eesmärk on anda üliõpilastele praktiline kogemus sellest, kuidas hinnata veebi/infosüsteemi/mobiilirakenduse kasutatavust ning lähtuvalt leitud probleemidest välja töötada lahendus. Lahenduse välja töötamise käigus luuakse prototüübi loomise tarkvara kasutades HTML prototüüp, mida on võimalik kasutajate peal testida. Kursus ei eelda programmeerimise oskust ning kursuse käigus ei õpetata programmeerima.

brief description of the course in Estonian
Läbi kursus toimub meeskonnatöö, mille käigus rakendatakse tundides õpitut. Iga meeskond valib ühe olemasoleva keskkonna (veebi, infosüsteem, mobiilirakendus) ning teostab valitud keskkonnale põhjaliku kasutatavuse uuringu. Võttes aluseks uuringu käigus leitud probleemid tuleb igal meeskonnal välja töötada lahendus ning luua wireframe kujul prototüüp. Lisaks meeskonna tööle tuleb aine käigus igal tudengil otsida välja üks akadeemiline artikkel ning teha ettekanne klassile. Viimases tunnis toimub meeskonnatöö kaitsmine ning töö tulemuste tutvustamine klaasile. Aine lõppeb eksamitööga, kus tuleb kirjutada essee kahe tundides tutvustatud meetodi rakendamisest, nende eelistest ning puudustest. Õppeaine käigus tutvustatakse mis on kasutajakeskse disaini põhimõtteid ning termineid, kasutajauuringu läbiviimist, kasutatavuse testimist, persoonide loomist, kasutajateekonna kirjeldamist, emotsionaalse disaini raamistikke ning wireframe prototüübi loomist.
brief description of the course in English
The practical part of the course will be carried out in teams, where students can practically use what they have learned in lectures. Each team has to conduct a usability evaluation on one existing website/ information system / mobile application of their choice. Taking under consideration the problems found, each team has to work out a solution on how to improve the sites usability and create a wireframe prototype to visualize the changes. Next to team work each student has to read an academic article about usability and present it to the class. In the last lecture, there will be a presentation of the team works to the class. The course ends with an exam essay, where each student individually has to write about two methods introduced during the course, their advantages and disadvantages. During the course student will learn about user-centered design, conducting usability research, conducting usability testing, creating personas, describing user flows, emotional design frameworks and creating wireframe prototype.
