Õppeaine eesmärk on:
- anda ülevaade kaasaegsete mikroskeemide ja sardsüsteemide projekteerimise käigust, meetoditest ja vahenditest;
- anda ülevaade digitaalsüsteemide masinprojekteerimisest erinevatel abstraktsioonitasemel;
- anda praktilisi kogemusi masinprojekteerimisülesannete lahendamisest;
- õpetada tööstuslike masinprojekteerimisvahendite kasutamist.

The aim of this course is to:
- give overview about phases, methods and tools of modern microchips and embedded systems design process, methods and tools;
- give overview about computer-aided design of digital systems at different abstraction levels;
- give practical experience of solving computer-aided design tasks;
- teach implementation principles of systems.

Õppeaine edukalt läbinud üliõpilane:
- teab kaasaegsete mikroskeemide ja sardsüsteemide projekteerimise põhietappe ning oskab kasutada erinevaid masinprojekteerimisvahendeid neil etappidel;
- koostab projekteerimisvaldkondade kirjeldusi erinevatel abstraktsioonitasemetel;
- lahendab projekteerimisülesandeid automaatsete lahendajate abil;
- kasutab tööstuslike masinprojekteerimisvahendeid.

After successfully completing the course, the student:
- knows about phases, methods and tools of modern microchips and embedded systems design process, and can use various computer-aided design tools at these phases;
- describes different design areas at different abstraction levels;
- solves design tasks using automatic problem solvers;

Masinrojekteerimise põhimõisted, valdkonnad, liigitus. Projekteerimisprotsess, etapid, süntees ja analüüs. Modelleerimine, optimeerimine ja süntees. Masinprojekteerimise vahendid, tehisintellekti meetodite kasutamine. Digitaalsüsteemide modelleerimine ja süntees tänapäevaste disainivahenditega.

Computer-aided design principles, areas, classifications. Design processes, phases, synthesis and analysis. Modeling, optimization and synthesis. Computer-aided design tools, use of artificial intelligence methods. Digital systems modeling and synthesis with modern design tools.

Teadmiste kontroll toimub suulisel eksamil. Üliõpilasel peab eksamile pääsemiseks olema sooritatud ja kaitstud ette antud masinprojekteerimisülesanded. Eksamil kontrollitakse üliõpilase teoreetilisi teadmisi.

The course ends with an oral exam. Before the exam, given computer-aided design tasks must be solved and reports accepted. On the exam, student's theoretical knowledge is checked.

Iseseisev töö seisneb teoreetiliste materjalide läbitöötamises ja praktikumideks valmistumises. Töö maht statsionaarses õppes - ca 90 tundi.
