Luua eeldused protsessijuhtimise eesmärkide ja juhtimispõhimõtete ning automaatikaseadmete tööpõhimõtete mõistmiseks. Tutvustada protsesside juhtimise rakendusi bioloogilistes, keemilistes ja tehnilistes süsteemides.

To create prerequisites for understanding the purposes and principles of process control and operation of associated equipment. Also to introduce the applications of process control in biological, chemical and technical systems.

1) Teab automaatjuhtimise põhimõisteid. Tunneb automaatikaseadmeid (andurid, juhtseadmed, täiturseadmed) ning nende tööpõhimõtteid.
2) Oskab selgitada automaatikasüsteemi toimimise kvalitatiivseid nõudeid.
3) Saab aru automaatika talitlusskeemidest ja protsessijuhtimise rollist bioloogilistes ja tehnilistes süsteemides.
4) Saab aru regulaatorite ja programmeeritavate kontrollerite kasutamise spetsiifikast ja lülitustoimetega automaatjuhtimise põhimõtetest ning oskab seadistada klassikalisi juhtalgoritme.

1) Knows the main terminology of control engineering. Knows the control instruments (sensors, controllers, actuators) and their working principles. Analog and digital controllers.
2) Can explain the qualitative requirements of the control system operation.
3) Can interpret the Instrumentation Diagrams and understands the role of process control in biological and technical systems.
4) Understands the specifics of use of regulators and programmable controllers (PLC). Understands principles of control logic. Is able to configure classic control algorithms.

Protsessijuhtimise ülesannete püstitus ja lahendamine. Juhtimispõhimõtted, avatud ja suletud süsteem. Juhtimissüsteemi stabiilsus ja täpsus. Juhitavad protsessid, nende olekud, sisendid ja väljundid. Diskreetsed protsessid, aja ja sündmuste järgi (lülitamisega) juhtimine. Pidevad protsessid, termilised ja nivooprotsessid. Automaatikaseadmete (regulaatorid, kontrollerid, andurid, täiturid) ja -tarkvara kasutamine ning standardiseeritud funktsionaalsuse esitusvormid. Robootika. Automaatjuhtimissüsteemide näited bio-, keemia ja toiduainete tehnoloogiates.

Tasks and levels of process control. Open and closed loop system, feedback and feedforward. Plant and processes. Control system stability and performance. Discrete event processes, time and event driven sequential control. Continuous processes, thermal and liquid level processes. Control systems instrumentation, software and examples of using in bio, chemical and food -technology. Robotics
