Kursuse eesmärgiks on anda ülevaade kindlustusõigusest, tutvustada kindlustusõiguse peamisi mõisteid ning kontseptsioone ja valmistada üliõpilasi ette tööks kindlustusõiguse allikate, kindlustuslepingu tüüptingimuste ja kindlustuse praktiliste kaasustega.

The purpose of this course is to give an overview of insurance law and introduce the main terms and concepts of insurance law and to prepare students for working with sources of insurance law, standard terms of insurance contract and practical insurance cases.

Kursuse lõpuks üliõpilane:
− teab, millised küsimused kuuluvad kindlustusõiguse reguleerimisalasse;
− teab ja mõistab kindlustusõiguse peamisi mõisteid ja kontseptsioone;
− oskab ära tunda kindlustusõiguse valdkonda kuuluvaid küsimusi praktilistes situatsioonides;
− teab kindlustusõiguse allikaid;
− oskab kindlustusõiguse allikatega iseseisvalt töötada.

By the end of the course the student:
− Knows which questions belong to the sphere of regulation of insurance law;
− Knows and understands the basic terms and concepts of insurance law;
− Is able to identify questions of insurance law in practical situations;
− Knows the main sources of insurance law;
− Is able to work independently with sources of insurance law.

Tegemist on kindlustusõiguse üldkursusega. Kursuse käigus tutvustatakse kindlustusõiguse peamisi küsimusi, mõisteid ja kontseptsioone. Lisaks tutvustatakse ka iga kindlustusõiguse valdkonna peamisi printsiipe. Kursuse käigus õpetatakse ka seda, millised on kindlustusõiguse peamised allikad, kuidas neid leida ning nendega töötada. Kursuse käigus seostatakse kindlustusõiguse teoreetilisi küsimusi päriseluliste situatsioonide ja kaasustega. Kursusele võib järgneda erikursusi, millel käsitletakse teatud konkreetset kindlustusõiguse valdkonda.

This is a general course of insurance law. The course shall discuss the main questions, terms and concepts of insurance law. In addition the main principles of each area of insurance law shall be introduced. The course shall also teach what are the main sources of insurance law and how to find and work with the sources. During the course the theoretical aspects of insurance law shall be linked to real life situations and cases. The course may be followed by special courses on particular areas of insurance law.

Eksami eesmärgiks on hinnata, kas üliõpilased on mõistnud, millised küsimused kuuluvad kindlustusõiguse valdkonda, kas üliõpilane tunneb kindlustusõiguse põhiprintsiipe ja mõisteid ning kas üliõpilane oskab praktiliselt lahendada kindlustusõiguse küsimusi.

The purpose of the examination is to assess whether the students have understood which questions belong to the sphere of insurance law and knows the main principles and terms of insurance law and whether the student is able to solve practical cases in insurance law.

Õppeaine käigus antakse üliõpilastele jooksvalt iseseisvaid töid, mille eesmärgiks on aidata kaasa aine omandamisele.
