Õppeaine eesmärk on:
- anda teadmised aine rakendustest ja fundamentaalsetest mõistetest praktiliste ülesannete kaudu;
- anda oskused inseneritehnika mõõteriistade ja tarkvara kasutamiseks;
- anda oskused kavandada ja konstrueerida elektrotehnika erinevate keskkondade projekte ning neid kontrollida;
- anda ülevaade elektrotehnika seotusest insenertehniliste ainete ja valdkondadega;
- arendada oskust lahendada probleeme, mis on seotud lihtsate elektronskeemide analüüsi ja sünteesiga.

The aim of the course is to:
- give knowledge about fundamentals and application of the subject with the help of practical tasks;
- give skills of employment of engineering measuring devices and software;
- teach skills to make out and develop projects of different electrotechnics media and to control them;
- give an overview of the connections between subjects and fields of electrical engineering;
- develop skills to solve problems related to analysis and synthesis of simple electronic circuits.

Õppeaine läbimise tulemusena üliõpilane:
- tunneb elektrotehnika erinevaid keskkondi;
- identifitseerib lahendust nõudvaid probleeme elektrotehnikas ning tunneb parimate lahenduste leidmiseks kasutatavaid seadmeid;
- kasutab inseneritehnika mõõteriistu;
- kasutab teadmisi elektrotehnikast inseneriteadustega seotud probleemide analüüsil ja meid ümbritseva elukeskkonna nähtuste kirjeldamisel ning iseseisva töö korral tarkvaraga;
- seostab elektrotehnikat tootmise ja tehnika toimimisega;
- kasutab mõõteseadmeid skeemide koostamisel ning kontrollimisel.

After completing this course, the student:
- knows various media of electrical engineering;
- identifies actual problems of electrical engineering and is able to find proper solutions and required equipment for them;
- uses engineering measuring instruments;
- uses knowledge of electrical engineering in the analysis of problems related to engineering sciences and in describing the phenomena of the environment around us, and in the case of independent work with software;
- connects electrical engineering with production and equipment work;
- uses measuring instruments when compiling and checking the schemes.
