VERSION SPECIFIC DATA
course aims in Estonian
Anda üliõpilasele võimalus omandada põhiteadmised puidukeemia ja puittooraine ümbertöötlemise tehnoloogiate valdkonnas; õpetada rakendama saadud teoreetilised teadmised praktikas; laiendada ja süvendada eksperimendi läbiviimise ja selle tulemuste interpreteerimise oskused.
course aims in English
The purpose of the course is to give the basics of knowledge in the field of wood chemistry and technologies for processing wood raw materials; to teach to apply the theoretical knowledge obtained in practice; to expand and deepen the skills of conducting an experiment and interpreting its results.
learning outcomes in the course in Est.
Aine sooritanud üliõpilane:
- tunneb puidu ja selle komponentide ehitust ja omadusi, puidu ja tselluloosi ümbertöötlemise põhiprotsesside kemismi;
- tunneb puittooraine ümbertöötlemise tehnoloogiate (tselluloosi- ja puitmassi tööstus, paberitööstus, puidu pürolüüs jt vastavalt ainekavale) põhialuseid, kasutatavaid seadmeid, valmistoodangu, keskkonnaprobleeme ja nende lahendamise kaasaegseid meetodeid;
- oskab teha puittooraine ja tselluloosi ümbertöötlemise erinevate tehnoloogiate võrdlusanalüüsi, samuti analüüsida puidu erinevate komponentide kasutamise otstarbekust;
- oskab teha puidu ja tselluloosi ümbertöötlemise põhiprotsesside tehnoloogilisi arvutusi (materjali- ja soojusbilansside koostamine, kulukoefitsientide jm arvutamine);
- kasutab omandatud teoreetilisi teadmisi eksperimendi läbiviimisel, töötleb ja analüüsib selle tulemusi;
- kasutab iseseisvalt kirjandusallikaid (sh võõrkeelseid) uurimisprobleemi lahendamisel.
learning outcomes in the course in Eng.
After studying the course, the student:
- knows the structure and properties of wood and its components, the chemism of the main processes occurring in the processing of wood and pulp;
- is familiar with the fundamentals of wood material processing technologies (production of chemical pulp and mechanical pulp, production of paper, the technology of pyrolysis, etc. according to the curriculum), the equipment used, the characteristics of the finished products, environmental problems and modern methods of solving them;
- is able to perform comparative analysis of different technologies for processing of wood raw materials and pulp, as well as analyse the feasibility of using different components of wood;
- is able to perform simple technological calculations of the main processes of wood and cellulose processing (compile material and heat balance, calculate consumption rates of raw materials, etc.);
- is able to use the acquired theoretical knowledge when conducting an experiment, to process the received experimental data and analyze them;
- is able to independently use literary sources (including foreign languages) in solving a research problem.

Grading
independent study in Estonian
independent study in English
Self-dependent elaboration of study materials, processing of the laboratory works results and laboratory works drawing up (is assessed via homeworks, structured written tests, which include theoretical questions and tasks solving and exam).
