Aine eesmärk on:
- õppida tundma logistika ja liikuvuse aluseid;
- omandada teadmisi siseneva, väljuva, seesmise ja reversiivse logistika, tarne- ja jaotusahelate kavandamise ning logistika strateegilise ja operatiivse planeerimise alal.

The aim of this course is to:
- learn the basics of logistics and mobility;
- acquire knowledge about inbound, outbound, production and reverse logistics, supply and distribution chains engineering and strategic/operative planning of logistics.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- kasutab logistika ja liikuvuse baasteooriad ning interdistsiplinaarseid seoseid teiste valdkondadega;
- nimetab logistika ja liikuvuse alamvaldkondi, logistikaettevõtete liike ja peamisi lisandväärtust andvaid tegevusi logistikas;
- selgitab välja ettevõtte logistilise potentsiaali, määrab kindlaks vajaduse logistikateenuste järele ja realiseerib selle;
- kirjeldab tarneahela olemust ja teab selle osi, põhjendab nõudluse ja pakkumise rolle tarneahela juhtimises, selgitab tarneahela juhtimise mõju ettevõtte väärtusele;
- optimeerib ettevõtte logistilisi protsesse, selgitades välja kompromissivõimalused ressursikasutuse tõhustamiseks tarneahelas;
- üldistab, kuidas geograafilised ja infrastruktuurilised tegurid mõjutavad tarneahela kujundust, turule ligipääsu ja klienditeeninduse taset;
- analüüsib transpordi infrastruktuuri ja transpordiliikide valiku mõju majandusarengule, konkurentsivõimele ja tarneahela terviklikule toimivusele;
- hindab transpordi ja logistika keskkonna- ning jätkusuutlikkuse küsimusi, sealhulgas süsiniku jalajälje mõõtmist, tagasilogistikat ja rohelisi tarneahela tavasid

After completing this course, the student:
- uses basic concepts and theories of logistics and mobility, is able to identify interdisciplinary relationships;
- names subdomains of logistics and mobility, types of logistic companies and main value-adding logistic activities;
- identifies logistic potential of company, determines need for logistic services and realises it;
- describes the nature of supply chains and knows its components, justifies the role of supply and demand in managing supply chains, explains influence of supply chains’ management on value of company;
- optimises company’s logistic processes, identifying opportunities for compromise in making resource use in supply chain more efficient;
- generalises how geographic and infrastructural factors influence supply chain design, market access, and customer service levels;
- analyses the impact of transport infrastructure and modal choices on economic development, competitiveness, and end-to-end supply chain performance;
- evaluates environmental and sustainability issues in transportation and logistics, including carbon footprint measurement, reverse logistics, and green supply chain practices.

Interpretation of the logistics content, overview of the stages of logistics development. Logistics vs supply chain engineering. Interdisciplinary relationships in logistics theory. Types of logistic companies and their value adding activities. Logistics strategy. Market of logistic services. Make-or-buy decision, 3PL and 4PL. Total costs of ownership. Supply chain, fundamentals of supply chain management. Importance of supply and demand in logistics. Production logistics. Warehousing and transportation in logistics, distribution system.
