course aims in Estonian
Aine eesmärk on:
- tutvustada magistritöödele esitatavaid põhinõudeid, magistritöö koostamise protsessi olulisi aspektide ja kaitsmisprotseduuri;
- valmistada üliõpilane ette magistritöö kirjutamiseks ja jälgida tema edasijõudmist, kasutades loenguid ja individuaalseid konsultatsioone;
- valmistada üliõpilane ette magistritöö kaitsmiseks, kasutades seminaritööd;
- tutvustada uurimisteemasid kaasüliõpilastele ja juhendajatele seminariettekande vormis, parendades tudengite esinemis- ja argumenteerimisoskust ning kriitilist analüüsioskust magistritööde hindamisel.

The aim of this course is to:
- introduce the basic requirements of the thesis, essential aspects of the preparation process of writing the Master's thesis, and the defence procedures;
- preparestudents to write a Master's thesis and monitoring his/her progress through lectures and individual consultations;
- prepare students to defend his/her Master's thesis as part of seminar work;
- introduce students’ research topics to each other and to tutors in the form of a seminar presentation, improve students' presentation and argumentation skills and critical analysis in the assessment of their Master's theses.

Üliõpilane:
- valib magistritöö teema ja koostab sellele kirjalikult laiendatud kava,
- teab magistritööle esitatavaid nõudeid;
- oskab sõnastada uurimisprobleemi, esitada uurimisküsimusi, formuleerida magistritöö eesmärgi ja uurimisteema aktuaalsuse iseseisvalt ning selgesõnaliselt;
- oskab koguda, töödelda ja esitleda vajalikku informatsiooni;
- oskab valmistuda magistritöö kaitsmiseks;
- valib uurimuse läbiviimiseks sobiva(d) meetodi(d) ja leiab asjakohased kirjanduslikud allikad;
- teeb enne magistritöö kaitsmisele lubamist selle kohta seminariettekande, kasutades sobivaid esitlusvahendeid.

The student:
- selects the topic of the Master's thesis and draws up an extended research plan for its writing,
- has knowledge of requirements for Master's thesis;
- is able to formulate a research problem, ask research questions, formulate the purpose of the Master's thesis and the topicality of the research topic independently and explicitly;
- is able to collect, process and present the necessary information;
- can prepare for defense of Master's thesis,
- selects the appropriate method (s) for conducting the study and finds relevant literature;
- presents their Master's thesis before applying for defence, using appropriate presentation tools.

Magistritööle esitatavate sisuliste, teoreetilis-metodoloogiliste, uurimuslike, vormistuslike ja eetiliste nõuete tutvustus. Magistritööde teemade valik ja läbirääkimised juhendajatega. Magistritööde kavandamine, individuaalsete projektide esitamine ja arutelu. Uurimuse kavandamine. Kirjutamine uurimisprotsessi osana. Teaduslike uurimistulemuste publitseerimine. Magistritöö kui (teadus-) publikatsioon. Magistritöö liigid. Juhendaja ja üliõpilase rollid magistritöö kirjutamisel. Uurimismeetodid. Mõõtmine. Andmeallikad, kirjanduse otsing. Töö koosseis.
