To develop skills of students and provide teamwork experience in research laboratories and companies.

Kursuse käigus üliõpilased omandavad ja täiendavad praktilise teadustöö ja projektilahenduse oskusi konkreetsete ülesannete lahendamisel, soovitavalt arendades oma eelneva semestri projekti. Praktika tuleb sooritada praktikandi iseseisva tööna talle sobivas kohas ja soovitavalt kolmandal semestril enne õpingute lõpetamist. Reeglina valivad praktikakoha ja -aja üliõpilased soovitavalt oma projektiteemast ning kooskõlastavad selle õppekava juhiga. Õppekava juht annab nõu, kooskõlastab ja arvestab praktika. Praktikaprotsessis toimub teoreetiliste teadmiste kinnistamine ja tööalaste vilumiste omandamine. Osaletakse konkreetses tööprotsessis. Põhimõtteliselt toimub töö üliõpilastega nii ülikoolis kui ka praktikakohas individuaalselt. Pärast praktika lõppemist koostab üliõpilane aruande, mis on kokkuvõtteks praktikandi tegevuse kohta ettevõttes (asutuses), ning esitab lühiettekande praktikaseminaril.

To develope skills in the course of practical work to do independent work and solve problems, desirably by continuing the project of former term. The practical training must be carried out as an apprentice's independent work at a suitable place and desirably during of  the third semester before completing the studies. 
As a rule, practical training and time are selected by students and coordinated with the programme director. The programme director provides advice, coordinates and rates the practice. In the process of practice, the theoretical knowledge is acquired and the acquisition of professional skills is taken. The student participates in a specific workflow. In principle, work with students at the university and at the internship is done individually. After completing the practice, the student prepares a report summarizing the trainee's activities in the company (institution), and gives a short presentation in the seminar.
