VERSION SPECIFIC DATA
course aims in Estonian
Õppeaine eesmärk on:
anda üliõpilasele põhiteadmised materjalide karakteriseerimise meetoditest, eesmärgiga süvendada üliõpilase ettevalmistust töötamiseks materjaliteaduse ja -tehnoloogiaarenduse vallas. Anda põhiteadmised ja praktilised oskused järgnevate materjalide uurimismeetodite alal:
- skaneeriv elektronmikroskoopia;
- Raman spektroskoopia;
- infrapuna spektroskoopia;
- röntgendifraktsioon;
- fotoluminestsents spektroskoopia;
- ultraviolett-nähtav spektroskoopia;
- röntgenfotoelektronspektronskoopia;
- elektriliste omaduste mõõtmised (Halli meetod, Kelvin sondi meetod jt).
course aims in English
The aim of this course is to:
to provide basic knowledge of materials characterization methods with the aim of preparing the student for a work in the field of materials research and technology development. To provide basic knowledge and practical skills in the following materials characterization methods:
- Scanning Electron Microscopy;
- Raman spectroscopy;
- Infrared spectroscopy;
- X-ray Diffraction;
- Photoluminescence spectroscopy;
- Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy;
- X-Ray Photoelectron spectroscopy;
- Electrical characterization methods (Hall method, Kelvin probe etc.).
learning outcomes in the course in Est.
Aine läbinud üliõpilane:
- omab põhiteadmisi ja praktilisi oskusi valitud materjalide uurimismeetoditest.
- oskab uurimisobjekte mõõtmisteks ette valmistada, mõõtmisi läbi viia ning mõõtmistulemusi analüüsida.
- aine raames omandatud teadmised ning praktilised oskused on osa üliõpilase ettevalmistusest materjalide teadusuuringute ning arenduse valdkonnas iseseisvaks probleemipüstituseks ning lahenduste väljatöötamiseks.
learning outcomes in the course in Eng.
After completing this course the student:
- has basic knowledge and practical skills in selected materials characterization methods.
- is able to prepare samples for the measurements, perform the measurements and analyse the aquired data.
- the gained knowledge and practical skills prepare the student for independent problem definition and solving in the field of materials research and technology development.
brief description of the course in Estonian

Ultraviolett-nähtav spektroskoopia. Röntgenfotoelektronspektroskoopia. Materjalide elektriliste omaduste mõõtmine (Halli meetod, Kelvin sondi meetod jt). Praktilised tööd kõikidel meetoditel.

brief description of the course in English
Introduction. Classification of materials characterization methods. Scanning Electron Microscopy. Raman and infrared spectroscopy. X-ray Diffraction. Photoluminescence spectroscopy. Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. X-Ray Photoelectron spectroscopy. Electrical characterization methods (Hall method, Kelvin probe etc.). Practical work in all methods.
type of assessment in Estonian
Suuline eksam, sisaldab teoreetilise osa ja praktiliste tööde aruannete kaitsmise.
Eksamieelduseks on õppeaines ettenähtud praktiliste tööde teostamine, tulemuste analüüsimine ning aruannete esitamine.

type of assessment in English
Oral exam, including theoretical part and defence of the reports of the practical work.
As the assumption for participation in the exam, the practical work has to be conducted and the corresponding reports of the practical work have to be presented.
