Õppeaine eesmärk on:
- anda ülevaade toote ringdisainist ja olelusringi hindamisest, sh süsinikujalajäljest;
- arendada loomingulist lähenemist keskkonnaväljakutsetele;
- anda praktilised kogemused ettevõtluse ja toote elutsükli sidumisel kliima ning keskkonnaaspektidega.

The aim of this course is to:
- provide an overview of product life cycle design and life cycle assessment, incl. carbon footprint calculations;
- develop a creative approach to environmental challenges;
- provide practical experience in integrating business and product life cycle with climate and environmental aspects.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- kirjeldab toodete elutsükli etappe;
- hindab keskkonnamõjusid toote olelusringi põhiselt;
- lahendab loominguliselt tootedisaini väljakutseid;
- rakendab erinevaid tööriistu, sh süsinikujalajälje arvutus, olelusringi hindamine, kontrollnimekirjad, prioriteerimismaatriks, KJ meetod;
- tunneb näidete varal praktilisi ringdisaini lahendusi.

After completing this course, the student:
- describes the stages of product life cycles;
- assesses environmental impacts based on the product's life cycle;
- is able creatively solve product design challenges;
- is able to apply various tools, including carbon footprint calculation, life cycle assessment, circular design checklists, prioritization matrices, and the KJ method;
- is familiar with practical circular design solutions through examples.

Sissejuhatus keskkonnajuhtimise meetoditesse.
Ringdisaini põhimõtete tutvustus. Praktiline grupitöö: uue toote kontseptsiooni välja arendamine.
Analüütilised vahendid ringdisaini protsessis: olelusringi hindamine, kontrollnimekirjad, süsiniku jalajälje arvutus, audit jt. Olelusringi hindamise etapid: eesmärgi ja ulatuse defineerimine, inventuur, mõjude hindamine, tulemuste interpretatsioon, aruandlus. Ühe toote näitel olelusringi hindamise praktiline arvutamine OpenLCA tarkvaras. Olelusringi hindamise ja süsiniku jalajälje arvutamise standardid. Süsiniku jalajälje arvutuse metoodika ja praktiline arvutamine KHG jalajälje arvutusmudeliga. Näited arvutustest.

Introduction to environmental management methods. Introduction to the principles of the circular design. Practical group work: developing a concept for a new product.
Analytical tools in the circular design process: life cycle assessment, checklists, carbon footprint calculation, audits, etc. Stages of life cycle assessment: goal and scope definition, inventory analyses, life cycle impact assessment, result interpretation, reporting. Practical calculation of a life cycle assessment for a single product using the OpenLCA software. Standards for life cycle assessment and carbon footprint calculation. Methodology for calculating the carbon footprint and practical calculation (Estonian GHG footprint model). Examples of calculations.
