The aim of the curriculum of is to provide the necessary level of education and vocational preparation for the profession of a biomedical engineer or a medical physicist. The curriculum gives the professional knowledge and training necessary for working in the health care system, science, medical technology companies and industry.
Learning outcomes of the study programme

theories, research methods, applications, theoretical trends and topical problems of biomedical engineering and medical physics;
- is able to present problems, conclusions and theories connected with biomedical engineering and medical physics orally as well as in written form in estonian and in english and participate in discussions with specialists in the field as well as with others;
- utilises knowledge of how technology and physics are implemented in biology and medicine to make independent technological decisions, solve creatively complex problems in the subject field, for independent creative work and/or for further studies in bioelectromagnetism, medical technology, diagnostic imaging and physiological signal processing;
- knows ethical and legal limitations and is able to compile and lead projects, plan and conduct studies (experiments), analyse results and assess the novelty, usefulness and economical effectiveness of work in the subject field;
- can assess the need for further studies, improvement in the subject field and work, possesses effective methods necessary for independent learning and is competently able to pass on knowledge in the form of teaching, tutoring or other ways;
- is ready to participate actively in the society and respect different views and values.
Graduation requirements
Completing the required volume of studies and successfully defending one's thesis according to the rules established by the council of TTÜ.
