energy use of the thermal units and in the field of fuels and fuel industry, environmental specialists and leaders in enterprises and public sector as well as in research institutions.
- To give comprehensive knowledge of processes and units related to mass and heat transfer and equipment.
- To enable to implement acquired skills and knowledge in the field of developing and operating devices using heat.
- To enable to implement acquired skills in heat, gas and district cooling supply.
- To create precondition to lead the teamwork of the projects related to thermal energy and energy technology.
- To form understanding of the problems in Estonian heat and gas energy sector and possible ways for solving them.
- To enable to implement acquired skills and knowledge for burning, pyrolysis and gasification of different types of fuel, using contemporary and nature- friendly technologies.
- To develop an idea of the interdisciplinarity of the science and develop the ability to use it in the speciality.
The curriculum creates preconditions of obtaining the professional qualification of the thermal energy engineer and continue in the doctoral studies.

- knows patterns of the thermal energy and energy technology field, topical problems and implementation possibilities and can recognize interdisciplinary relations;
- can formulate and analyse problems related to the field of energy technology independantly, phrase them and present a report within set time limit;
- can fulfil assignments requiring special qualification in the field of thermal energy, is initiative and prepared for teamwork;
- can associate different knowledge and skills in the field of energy technology and choose and use interdisciplinary methods related to speciality;
- can verbally and in writing argue about problems and theories in Estonian, as well as at least in one foreign language essential to the specialty and argue in oral and written form.

In order to obtain Cum Laude diploma the graduation paper must be defended for the grade "5" and the weighted average grade must be at least 4,60, where all grades from diploma supplement are taken into account.
