The student:
reveals the fundamental concepts of energy economics, international political economy of energy and energy security;
maps the major energy flows around the world;
analyzes the major energy providers’ s behaviour as well as suppliers' and its influence to multilateral relations between US, Russia, Middle East and EU; identifies the future of the world energy situation;
categorizes different EU regional and national policies for protecting its energy security.

Kuna energial on inimese elus oluline roll ning energia ressursid ei ole ühtlaselt jaotunud, on energiaga seotud konflikte ning koostööd. Võrreldes varasemaga, muudavad erinevad tegurid olukorra veelgi komplitseeritumaks. Valdkonna globaalsete arengute mõistmiseks on vaja teada energia tehnilisi, poliitilise ning majanduslikke vaatepunkte ning neid käsitletakse käesoleval kursusel.

Since energy plays a great role in human life, and energy resources are not distributed unimodally, conflicts and cooperation have been shape around energy issues. Different factors will make the situation more complex for the future than it used to be. Understanding the global development in this field requires understanding of the technical, political and economic bases of energy, which will be disscussed in the course.
